Welp....finally received my buy back offer. It took some time (primarily my pain and suffering) but I will say that the FCA is making it right. This is my JT that will be going back to the dealers in a couple of weeks. Thought I could walk away, but after going 'naked', I kinda want to give another JT a try. Looking for some convincing... ;-)

Well it sure is pretty! Pretty bad ass! It will be hard to let mine go if it comes to that.

Yep your dealer sounds very good. I paid cash for mine so I prefer to get 100% of it back, and move on.
I can’t argue with you on that. I was thinking that having my $14,000 down payment back would be nice but then again. He made it easy. I do wish you well and again, I can’t argue with you on that decision. Looks like you had a beautiful Rubicon.

Build date: 3/2019
Mileage when it first occurred: approx 270
How many times has it occurred: 1
What exact codes did it throw: Dealer did not show exact code
Is the issue on going? Y
If so, what has been done to try to solve the issue? It is still at the dealer
Was the issue ever fully resolved? N

I purchased a brand new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 7/19/2020 and the check engine light went off 7/23/2020 after normal road driving. I took it to the dealer the next day and they said it had an engine misfire code.

Do you all have any tips I can tell my dealer to look for or signs to look for that would imply this is going to be going down a rabbit hole?

Otherwise I love the truck and can’t wait to get it offroad.

Thanks!
Jason
Spoke with the dealer today, and they did not give me details, but said the “left part of the engine” needs to be replaced.

The lead sales person has been pretty helpful. I am going to attempt to swap it out with something else.

Thank you all for the advice. Really like it, but torn whether to chance it and try another gladiator or go with a ram 1500.

I’m wondering if you get a build date after February-March 2020 whether you might not get beyond the manufacturing issue. I noticed from the sticker my current Gladiator’s engine was built in Mexico. I wonder if that has something to do with the defect?

I had a similar thought jwork435. Just wasn't sure what that 'magical' date would be. Is anyone hearing of these issues for builds after Mar 2020? As much as I want to walk away and get a different vehicle, it keeps pulling me back in....:surprised:

So far no reports after March on this forum.

I wonder if the factories were not already closed down by March, The pandemic has shut assembly lines down. Are there any March builds out there?

Good question! I think I remember the sales rep. I dealt with saying they stopped producing them at some point at the beginning of the pandemic.

I had the same issue at 250 miles, after 26 days at the dealer I got it back with a #2/4/6 side complete upper end replacement. I've had it back for 3 weeks and have driven it about 1200 miles and everything is good. They even gave me free of charge a premium extended warranty. Im happy and love my truck.

Friday 7/31 Update — mine is back in the shop. Had the rough idle and Auto Stop Start light when I left for the dealership, so I left engine running upon arrival. They read the codes with the engine running noting a pending PO300 code.

In my view, and as others have also noted, it seems the pcm update did not resolve the issues we are having. It will be interesting to see what FCA recommends as a next step this time around.

I had the original check engine light come on at 500 miles and now I have an appointment for Wednesday because it has come back on at 1200 miles. The first time it was P0300. Cleared at the dealer service department.

I am on day 93 of my Gladiator disaster. One buyback on Gladiator 1. Waiting on buyback on Gladiator 2. If I can get Jeep to trade me up from Overland for my extended journey of misery I will not take anything with a build date before May 2020. COVID will be cured before Jeep figures this out...

Milestone reached: 50% of the time I’ve owned this vehicle has now been shop time. 26 days owned, 13 days at the dealership.
