I sent an email to ZAuto, but figured I'd toss this up here as well.

My Tazer JL Mini "loses memory" every couple of months. The live settings that I set revert back to default states, but not always all of them...

I typically have Kill 3 Honk, auto-start disable, and brake pulse set for live settings. Every couple months they all disappear as if I never set them. I notice when it happens usually from either the horn honking if I leave the truck with the keys, or it suddenly shuts off at a stop light. I then have to go in and reconfigure all my live settings.

The last couple times it has happened the auto-start disable has remained, but he kill 3 honk and brake pulse have reverted back to their normal settings.

This last time it happened was only about 2 weeks since the previous time.

I've checked for updates but it says it's up-to-date.
I don't have battery issues, nor has it happened after battery disconnects. It happens randomly.
I've checked connections to make sure they are tight.

Thoughts?

Maybe roll back or reset it.
I had that happen with reverse lights etc also, and then after another update it was gone, havent updated it in a while, so I did not want to wake sleeping dogs, but will now again for new safety features

Mine does similar things pretty regularly. I usually unplug it and then plug it back in and most of the time the settings return. I wish it was not so finicky

I haven’t had any issues for a long time (knock on wood). Back a year or so ago, the Kill3-honk didn’t work. I didn’t think anything of it and just adjusted the settings again.

The last time I had it out, was for my yearly inspection (last March). Everytime I take it out, I hook it up to the desktop and I download the firmware. Even if the firmware is the exact same version, I still download it as a fresh copy. I haven’t had any problems since.

Mine does the same, I've had glitches from the beginning. Mines a diesel so it's special. I've never been able to get winch mode to work, the most recent was the license plate light delete in reverse quit, of course when I was trying to hook a trailer in the dark......I think the OTA updates are just too much to keep out in front of

I thought the description and instructions state the winch mode doesn't work on the diesel?

Don't forget 2 sleep cycles after you make changes.

Yup…. I ended up writing myself specific & detailed instructions (in my own wording) so I could follow along more easily.

Interesting...my gasser recently experienced this regression. Had no idea it could be due to OTA :/

Mine does the exact same thing. It has since new regardless of updates. I havent updated it in a while. Maybe I should try that.

This is why I purposely bought the 5" screen radio. With the propensity to screw up things when updates are made, I want the ability to safely remain behind. No OTA updates screwing up my settings. Then there's my tin hat side that likes that they can't track my truck. ;) No government geofencing for this guy.

That being said, the only bug I've noticed is that my license plate lights will stay on in reverse randomly. I haven't updated my tazer since the first update as I installed it. That's probably been 3 or four years now

It did say when I first got my Tazer that winch mode didn't work on diesel, but an update or two later they said it was working. I updated to the "working" version, slept it more than needed, tried it several days later after additional stop/start/errand driving, still couldn't get it. I reached out to them and they were kinda like 'eh, we got it to work, did you sleep it right'.......was kinda put off and frustrated with the whole thing at that point, trying to follow their instructions with the steering wheel controls and getting in and out of the right menus. Anchor mode was another I've never been able to get to work either. Update: my license plate light mode started working again, my other favorite is the brake hold, pump the brake hard when in gear and you can let off completely like at a stop light or in a drive thru. Thankfully, the auto stop/start hasn't disable hasn't cut out on me, that shit drives me crazy. I got a loaner gas JT when I had mine in for the fuel pump recall, 3 days of auto start/stop hell......
