I would like to know for those of you who have Rubicon, what was something that you guys felt was a necessary mod?

Aside from tires and a lift.

What improved your overall experience with your Rubicon?

I’m planning to keep mine stock for about a year, take it on a couple of trips, and then see what my limitations are for the vehicle.

Would love to know your guys input.

Mojave, Willys, and Sport trim are welcome for inputs too!!!

I think a winch is a fairly necessary first mod especially if you'll be going out alone. Besides that, do what you said, go on trips and figure out what you need based on those trips.

Depends on what color your roof is. If a light color, this probably won’t matter but the roof on my Sport S is black.

I took delivery the last week of July last summer. The very first thing I did was install Hothead headliner panels because the NC summer sun was baking that black top, and subsequently my bald head. I’m tall, so my noggin was close enough to feel the heat radiating. Hotheads fixed that.

Mopar makes OE headliners too.

Seat covers then Tazer

** Edit I missed your time line** ... I was thinking next day !

I did winch and bumper in the first 2 months and as soon as the sun was out top off for a new soft top, second tow hook

I would not be able to wait a year, I only bought my 2023 left over with 22 miles (I put 10 on in the test drive) May 2024 and it has 25K on it and been down a few trails one badge

Why replace a perfectly good factory stabilizer?

I forget the exact order of my mods, but will say, depending on your specific circumstances they can change.

Sill guards, but removed pretty soon there after. They leave just enough gap in the door bulb seal to allow me to get sprayed going through a car wash much less going through some type of water crossing.

MORE dead peddle

Got 2 stubby antenna’s and the reception sucked so I went back to stock.

Winch: Got the Badland 12k syn on sale + my membership discount for around 340-350.

Seat Jacker mod cuz I’m tall + it supports the back of my legs better improving the over all driving position.

Hard tri-fold bed cover

Air: ARB twin with the Kraken system…love it!

CB & GMRS

Clayton 2.5 Overland + Diesel lift. Still waiting on wheels and tires.

Tazer but waiting to install until the tires come in.

Tazer, tazer, tazer. From sway bar disconnect at any speed, even in 2wd to the Jeep remembering that I want my traction control and start/stop off (ever hit a little mud, try to throttle through it, and have the dumb ass Jeep cut all power, exactly what you'd want if your goal was getting stuck), to front only locker or locker in 2wd if I feel like doing donuts. Necessary to make the Jeep do Jeep stuff.

Much like you I drove mine stock for a year or so before any major changes however the first mods I did in that year of driving it stock were dead pedal, stubby antenna and grab handles for the fam.
After the year was over I did wheels, tires, lift, Autolynx, derringer and pedal monster.

Looking back on what I've done so far my seat jackers and Rokblokz mudflaps offered the most bang for the buck right out of the gate. Cheap upgrades that made big impacts (comfort and keeping the sides clean/reduce rock chips).
