Not sure about the ford or Chevy but that Toyota Tacoma is the hybrid model with that much torque. I traded my Tacoma in for my gladiator and it didn’t have that much torque. IIRC, it had about 285 ft lbs of torque.

There are a lot of costs with offering different engine options. One of the larger ones is the crash test requirements. Spread that out over the number of sales and it's not so bad for the Wrangler, but pretty high for the Gladiator.

Jeep has done the evaluations, likely multiple times. If there was money to be made offering a V8 in the Gladiator, they would already be doing it.
I don’t know that they have to crash test every engine option. Do you have a link that can educate me?

He's also justifying crash testing the 392 in the Wrangler that was $100k until they released the moab and willys versions this year because of sales vs the gladiator with a base 5.7L option that would sell like hot cakes at $60k as an excuse not to do it. It's made up illogical excuse making and nothing more. They'd sell more 5.7L gladiators this year than they've sold 392 JLs since they launched.

I just know what has been shared here over the last seven years. You would have to check the NHTSA website to see how much detail is available to the public.

If it ever happens and they end up putting the 392 into a Gladiator, definitely going to be north of 100k. For me personally if my 3.6 ever shits the bed I'll be having my local offroad shop swap in a AMW 425 and call it a day.

Everything I’ve seen shared here is hearsay.

Many sources on Google say they don’t crash test every engine option.

I have not looked into it to find out any more. I don't believe this version of the Gladiator will ever see a factory V8.

There are many posts talking about how easy it is to do, and how many Gladiators Jeep could sell, and how cheap it is for them. If that were all true, it would be an available option. After seven years, there is still only one engine option, and the Gladiator will likely disappear from the lineup after the 2028 model year.

I've been doing my homework on starting a motorcycle company and making my bikes Fed/CARB compliant. I also looked into requirement for automobiles to be road legal in 49/50 states.

YES. You must submit 7 production ready vehicles with the same powertrain (iirc weight was the biggest factor) for crash testing with NHTSA and if you want them to be CARB compliant for emissions (50 state legal, not just 48 states as NJ adopted CARB iirc).

That's THE reason the R-34 GT-R will NEVER be road legal federally or in CA. They made less than 7 of certain models, and the crash testing was NEVER done in the USA. The ONLY legal ways you'll see a R-34 in the USA is:

- Canadian registration
- An imported managed to sneak a few in before they cracked down, but they never came in through Cali.
- They're not true a GT-R but rather a converted GTS-T (different engine, RWD not 4WD, single turbo not twin, 5 speed not 6 speed, rarely has HICAS/Super-HICAS).

This has been the case for several vehicles never being brought to the USA as fed compliant: Kei vehicles, R-34, The new Toyota pickup (not hilux), Lotus 340R, Land Rover Defender 110 (1993), Renault Apline A110, and others.

Just because you MIGHT be able to get plates/insurance in YOUR state (AZ/MO) doesn't mean it's federally legal, and I DARE you to drive it into CA without risking them taking it from you and CRUSHING IT.
- Yeah, they CRUSH illegal cars for the 1st offense in CA. Same for vehicles "caught street racing."

Good info, thanks.

You said "YES. You must submit 7 production ready vehicles with the same powertrain...".

If they all have the same powertrain, does that mean you do not have to submit all available powertrains?

I would bet being Gladiator came out with the last administrations Green New Scam had a lot to do with no good options for V8. If ya wanted a V8 wrangler they made you pay through the nose to get it and some did. As a $3500 option you can bet your ass 5.7 would of sold well look at the Ram. Sure heard a lot of noise when the 5.7 was not an option any more. All of my short bed reg cab 4x4 rams with 5.7 got about a 1.5 mpg less than my no torque Gladiator does at a normal rpm. I blame it partially on Politics too

Most of the country is exhausted by the prices of new trucks with many truck manufacturers promising cheaper, less-content trucks. Here we dreamer/screamers unrealistically attempting to take the Jeep Gladiator in the opposite direction!?!!! Dreamer/Screamers 🤓

it's our caveman brains the want the throaty rumble and epic sounds a V8 product. Its an American sound. A loud muffler V6 or 4 banger sounding like a bee or a zipper can be very annoying. A jeep shouldn't sound like a tuner. HAHAHAHA Ugh, The v6 F150 Raptors sound so bad.
