Thanks Punknhead. My camper with a full load is not that much. Maybe 4500 if the water is full. I will get the distribution hitch just to be sure.

Thanks for replying Lucky1

I went on a Jeep Jamboree, which was advertised as suitable for non-lifted Jeeps.

I'm going to get a lift before the next Jamboree.
Maybe they meant non-lifted 2 door Wrangler Rubicons.

I was at the dealership dropping off my truck. Person at the drop off zone was dropping off his jeep also. He told me nice looking truck and I said thanks. We chatted for a minute or so as he asked me how I liked it and a few other questions. Then "Man you should lift that thing with some larger tires" . I said well eventually will move to 35's but no plans to lift. I got a strange look (LOL).

Ok that's it just thought it was funny we had been discussing this very thing on the forum and it made me think of this thread.

No lift or big tires for my JTHA! Will never see offroad, only commute in crappy North Virginia weather/winter. At 20, the wheels and tires are big enough for me. When I replace the tires in 3 year, I'll get K2's for the OEM wheels.

In my head I have that feeling of lift and 37’s and all that goes with that... oh, and Rubicon Hood Stickers... ? actually been thinking about a Rubicon wrap, lots of little Rubicon words all over it...

BUT... then I drive it to work, I drive it off road, I drive it with the top and doors off, I accelerate up to 90mph to quickly get over to the speed lane from an on ramp.... I look at it and I think, it really is set the way I use it.

How awful it is... I’ve done it... to chase the rabbit... lift, big tires... bigger tires... no power... change gears... need more power... change engine... need stronger axles... get DW... get that sorted... Towing is crap, buy another full size diesel truck for towing ...back to the JT... my gas mileage goes from my recent normal driving 21 mpg to 9mpg... this pipeline BS issue and now gas that was $1.60 here a year ago over night is $3.00... and will go higher... need a dd to get better gas mileage. So at this point I’m back to three vehicles for myself. And with all the mods like that to the JT, it still won’t beat even a well sorted JKU, let alone a built TJ/buggy, or the chopped MJ I had on 38’s on built 44’s with Detroit in the front pumpkin and a full spool in the rear. These are light enough to tow with my awesome JTMT.

So what is the point?! I drive my manual JKUHR off road and it was fantastic, made everything easy. This JT is not something I would take to beat off road. Too long, break over sucks without 40’s and still would be tromped by a 4 door wrangler on the same tires, body panels will get raped on rocks and trees...

what is the point when I love it as is! I’ve made modifications for hauling and camping. I’ve made some visual upgrades and as all Jeeps no matter what the build, it is my own unique Jeep. I still have plenty of payload available and towing 7000lbs is not an issue.

I will upgrade tires to 33 maybe 35 BFG KO 2s, I will buy 17x9 4.75 bs stock looking wheels, I will budget boost to 2.5”es, and continue with the overland accessories and eventual awesome oracle tail lights, stock LED headlights, Amber LED fogs, put on my “best Gladiator” emblem over black tailgate/tail light surround accents, and modify the stock hood for some extra cooling... I will buy a soft top when someone gets rid of the man bun. The current soft top is ok, but man bun will be in the way of my next overland rack build for hard top and soft top use... hurry up best top!

That is it... right now in current form my JT brings a smile every time I get in the seat!!

Dont have a lift on my JL, but did put Rubicon wheel/tire take offs as I quickly learned the stock minivan all season tires were pretty limiting in the sand around here.
Its more than capable enough for me and we can get in/out of it and not need running boards/steps.

I dont even plan on tires for my 80th Gladiator.
Quite happy with the AT's for what I will do with it.
I like my wheels too.

And yea, I keep hearing from other Jeepers that I need to lift it and put 37's on.
NOT Happening....

Yesterday I drove my JT home from the airport, and was in love all over again. For the past week I'd been driving the family's various Japanese economy/midline SUVs. A 2019 Rav4 hybrid with adaptive and lane keeping was the nicest of the bunch, but still loud and cheap-feeling (I didn't realize how much until I got back in the Jeep). I drove the Jeep to the airport but for the week before that I'd only been driving our new Tesla (it's a new toy). The JT is so quiet, smooth, and comfortable compared to the little SUVs. Particularly the "quiet" part which is something I love about the Tesla. Oddly, the Jeep drives more like the Tesla than like the little SUVs.

This is why I don't want to mess with lifts and tires.

Have a 2 month old Overland with the stock 18" rims. Want a beefier tire look. No plans to lift, but probably 1.5" level up front. Should I just get a beefier 18" tire - maybe Nitto Terra/Ridge Grappler 275/65r18 on the stock rims, or do the Rubi takeoffs? Looking to get up to 33".

I just picked my Gladiator up a few days ago, but I'm only doing a Daystar 1.5" front spacer and KO2 33s.

I like the Nitto Ridge Grappler in 275/70/18. Just a hair over 33" and it'll give you the beefy tough look you are desiring.
