My Magnuson supercharger was just installed on my 2020 JTR. I went to pick it up after it had been test driven by the installer. Shortly after I cranked it, the check engine light came on. The codes were not disastrous, mostly a cylinder misfire and some older codes. They were cleared out. I drove about 26 miles at moderate driving to break it in and for the transmission to "learn" my driving style. I parked it for an hour and let it cool. Then I went out to drive it again as part of the breaking in. I was on the highway and gave it some gas to pass a very slow moving truck and it sputtered. Once I got to the exit, lights were flashing and it went into limp mode. I pulled off the road for a minute and turned off the engine. After a coupe of minutes, I restarted and it drove fine other then the engine light being on.

I went to the installer and it went into limp mode again. This time, the Electronic Throttle Control light started flashing and it stayed in limp mode. We replaced the throttle body with on we know works properly and that had no effect. The gas pedal reading was odd, as it was either 100% or N/A and went back and forth between those values. I had to leave it at the shop.

Wondering if anyone else has ETC error coded in your gladiator.

It appears as though the mystery is solved. The installer accidentally forgot to reconnect the plug that attaches to the negative battery cable. The system thought the aux battery was dead and put the Jeep into limp mode. Reconnected the plug, disconnected both batteries overnight. Reconnected batteries the next morning and cleared out the codes and 300+ miles later, it is running great.

how’s the supercharger? Been looking into it but read it’s more trouble than it’s worth.

I have a Magnuson as well installed on my JT. I have had it on for 14 months and over 20k miles, 3k of that was towing a 6k trailer, been wheeling with it, daily driver and long hauls so-far I personally have not had issues.

good to hear. Are you using the tune it came with or Dave’s?

I'm with Geetech, I've had 0 issues. Only 5k miles on my SC, towed apx 2500 of that. I run the Maggie tune, dealer installed.

Going to chime in with the other success stories. I have a 2020 JTR, running 39's with 513s, and about 7k on the magnusson with Dave's tune.
Have towed, wheeled, and daily driven for those miles with zero issues. My truck runs smooth as butter, plenty of power, and not too horrible on fuel. I get around 16-17 as long as I stay off the interstate.

Mine ran great for over 10k miles once this got fixed, but then I had the dreaded lifter/cam problem. That has been fixed, but now there is an issue somewhere in the system because the dealer had to reflash the PCM. I sent the new flash to Maggie and got their updated tune and put it in. Now when the Jeep is under load, it goes into limp mode and the stop/start light comes on. I have taken that to mean a voltage issue. Anyone have thoughts on a solution? I unplugged the battery overnight and had the same problem driving it this morning.
