Remember when all those tires were blowing up and killing people due to under inflation… run ‘em at the stated pressure on your door. Off road slow speed ya air down. Highway use .. stated pressure on the door. My 2c.
I do!! Got a free set of Michelins for our old exploder! Lol

They were saying to run at like 26 or 28 psi. That’s pretty low for a 4,000lbs vehicle. Lots of heat and a crappy Firestone tire.

Also keep in mind that optimal pressure changes if you throw a wider tire on the same stock size wheel. A wider tire will require higher pressure to stay flat on the surface.
A wider tire on the same size stock wheel requires less psi for even tread wear.

Ayup, I agree.
I run anywhere 33-35 for my 35x12.5r17 e-rated on stock rims.

if I ran 38+ pressure, they will crown just a bit.
(If I have a load, i do go up in psi, but the load keeps the tread flat)

@Brahmajoe remember when I said buckle up? haha didnt even make it two pages before people started arguing. You have poked a bee hive
Lol sorry didn’t mean too. Like I said I’m new to jeep I just thought it was air up and air down. Forgot about all the i between lmao. I appreciate everyone’s input with that aside. That’s one of the things I’m starting to notice. The brother/sisterhood of owners. And I guess brothers and sisters argue, but in the end, it’s all love

I have 35x12.5x17 toyo a/t 3 on my freedom (sport s w/ steel bumpers). Freedom is essentially stock so not much added weight besides a couple people and hard tonneau cover which was added later . Chalk test puts my tires at 30psi cold. Ride quality is way better but fuel economy sucks. Trade offs. Long term even tire wear but more money in gas.

Something to keep in mind with the chalk test is it’s only telling you what PSI for even tread wear.

You also want to consider how it handles, how it feels, load you’re carrying, MPG. Usually a few PSI higher than the chalk test is where I run them.

On my skinny 35x10.5 E rated tires the best pressure for daily driving was between 30-32 psi cold. Above that the ride was noticeably stiffer and above 35 psi the outside lugs were coming off the road. At about 28 psi it started getting a little squirmy in corners but not too bad. I wouldn't go below 28 psi for daily driving.

Cheers

Yea now that you say that, I think I’m running lower now on 33s than I was on the stock Bridgestones….maybe hell I don’t know, my memory is shit. I’m thinking the sidewall stiffness differences throws my theory out of whack lol.

I run 38 PSI cold, when warm they bump up to 40/41 PSI. I ran 35 cold and the ride was worse. 38 cold is perfect for how I like my ride.

This reminds me of oil treads. What's the best oil?

What size tires? Is the ride bumpier with higher psi

How are these tires in the rain? Tire rack gives them the worst rating.

They’re meh. I live in Florida so I definitely have plenty of experience with wet road driving and my personal opinion is that they’re just “okay” not the worst I’ve driven but certainly wouldn't get them again. I know they’re rated for a heavier truck and for snow conditions so that’s on me for choosing them when I live in Florida. I don’t want to say they’re bad tires because I’m using them for the wrong application.

Thanks. We do get snow in New Mexico, but plenty of rain during the monsoon. The Toyo's on my wife's Forester are great tires. I thought that any other Toyo would be as good.
