For me, D rated has been my perfect happy medium. I can still load them up and tow reasonable things, but they’re not harsh like E. And they still wrinkle up and conform to the rocks when aired down off road.
With the E's I found further airing diwn is necessary for Rocky terrain versus thd D which were much more forgiving in that aspect. I like D's too Its just the description was not full and I didn't research them enough to realize they came in the higher rating. Oh well should last awhile.

FWIW my 35” Nitto ridge grapplers in E don’t feel harsh at all. They are heavy though and didn’t help my gas mileage.

I had KO2's load E ( 315 70 17 ) on my 21 Mojave. This time I went with the load C on my 24. When these are done I will definitely go back with a load E. The E's had better wear and were more stable on the highway. On the Mojave I barely notice a difference in ride.

Mine still rides good on E load. Tire pressure is key. It make a huge difference and the tires wear evenly at 34 psi.
Second that. I run Falken A/T4W E rated and while it’s a slightly stiffer ride they are more puncture resistant on the sharp rocks and narrow trails where side walls are more vulnerable to damage. I got over 50K on the previous set and if it weren’t for wanting good tread for towing this winter, and a good sale price, I could have easily stretched them to near 60k. E is a good option for those that need them but most will choose C or D.

E was only available in the tire size I decided on, but no regrets. I went from the factory Overland All Season tires too. I thought I made a mistake at first but then I saw they had like 44 psi in them. I swear it rides about the same as long as I don’t go over 35 psi and it definitely handles better if I’m messing around on mtn roads pushing it as far as I feel comfortable pushing a Gladiator. Probably because less sidewall flex.

I got almost 60k out of mine too. I would have easily if I didn’t destroy one running over metal on the interstate. They had 5-6/32 left at 55k miles. I’m not easy on tires. I wish they still made them. Revo 3s. I bought a new set right before they discontinued them.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I tend to prefer E-rated tires. I know they're overkill, but I like that about them. I don't feel like the ride suffers that much, and I keep mine at 37 psi.
