I wish we could solve the age old mystery ( no one here has ever agreed ) regarding the "150lbs driver" and payload. Both sides say it's solved - in their favor.
Nothing to solve, the door sticker says all occupants and cargo counts against your payload numbers, and the driver is an occupant per D.O.T. definition.

My sport s max tow sticker below, as well as an excerpt from a DOT article on "occupant" definition.

I don't think anyone's overlooking or ignoring anything. The question is, "what is the max tow rating of the trim". Not "what is the realistic tow capability of my setup". I think everyone's making this into something it's not.

Yes, your payload and vehicle weight impacts tow capacity. Yes, each one is slightly different. But that doesn't mean sharing the trim's maximum tow rating to prospective buyers is bad either. You can have both with the right approach. But ignoring the question and telling prospective buyers to "just look a the door jamb" isn't particularly helpful.
Neither is saying "7000 pounds". Which is almost everyones standard reply. When in truth, it's nowhere near 7000 pounds.

Well that's Jeep's published spec, so when shopping and comparing to other vehicles that's what should be used.

Hard to say any different until you actually have one. If you're talking about calculating rating for specific application, you're right on. Many people who ask this, though, aren't doing that, but are shopping around and looking for the accurate official spec. That's 7,000.

I’ve been thinking of upgrading my 20 JT sport s max tow to a 24 rubi. The stream said all gladiators will be capable of towing 7700 lbs. did I hear wrong when they did the Intro the 13th ? ive been told only the sport has the max tow option. Am I the only one confused !

I'm 99% sure the 7700 lbs towing and 1725 lbs payload is only for the max tow package, same as always. If you were able to zoom in on the fine print at the bottom of your pic I'm sure it'd say that in a disclaimer.

Any max spec is always going to be a single trim.

I pull a 28 ft travel trailer 6200 empty. You can tell it is back there but pulls it very well. The only problem I had was sway around 60-65 mph. Added a Reese sway cam system with load levelers and it pulls great
