Sorry if this has been asked before but, I am getting very close to pulling the trigger on a JTR Ecodiesel and the one I like(color and options) does not have the trailer tow package. I intend to tow with it. What exactly does that include on the Ecodiesel? Just the hitch and the camera zoom? I really just want to make sure I would not be missing any cooling upgrades.

I assume if its just the hitch I can easily add that later as its bolt on.

This is what's listed for a '23.

  • 240-Amp Alternator
  • Class IV Receiver Hitch
  • Heavy-Duty Engine Cooling
  • Trailer-Hitch Zoom
Don't know what alternator comes with a non trailer optioned diesel. If you get the aux switches. That comes with the bigger battery. But I think the diesel comes with that anyway a long with the 240 alternator. The trailer hitch comes with the 4 pin/7pin plug.

Since you plan on towing with it, I would not buy unless it has the factory installed Tow Package. If you were just going to be occasionally towing a small trailer, I would say buy it and add the receiver.

So I should have posted this to begin with, but on the EcoDiesel window stickers it only shows this:

Jeep Gladiator Tow Package on EcoD 1704677912724

The heavy duty cooling and 240 amp alternator dont show as add-ons.

Believe the heavy duty cooling is on the 3.6 only. The diesel has the larger fan to begin with. The diesel has the larger 94R battery. So the 240 amp alternator comes with that battery.

Thats kind of what I was thinking. Just having the 3.0L probably means it already has the alternator and bigger cooling package.

Adding a hitch isn't a big deal and it already has the 4 and 7 pin connectors.

You should be okay, but that’s a very oddly spec’d truck.

I have the tow package and mine did not come with the AUX switches but I did install them. I do know that the MOPAR kit states it's not compatible with the diesel. That's because there is nowhere to mount the factory relay bracket. I made a custom mount for mine. Enable it with the Tazer and good to go.

If the 4-pin and 7-pin connectors are already in the bumper I would be quite surprised if the receiver isn't there. The only thing I have added for towing is the trailer brake controller.

All gladiators have the 4 and 7 pin. Only the Tow Package ( any trim ) or Max Tow options ( Sport only ) get the Class IV receiver hitch.

Yeah the hitch definitely is not there. The other 3 I am looking at all have the hitch and list the tow package.

Dang. I special ordered my truck with diesel and aux switches (which apparently covered the battery, alternator, and engine fan), plus the tow package at +$550 (a few percent under invoice price at the time). Looks like I could have skipped it, and just added the Mopar Class IV receiver DIY for ~$330 if I ever want it, and saved a bit of money. My only use of the hitch so far has been to drag it on rock shelves. Not likely to change either

Last I saw, invoice for tow package went way up to ~$900 ($1100 msrp); that's real money now

What does the hitch zoom even do?

I am assuming its just an option to zoom in with the backup camera so you can see if the ball and coupler are lined up when backing to a trailer.

Probably something you could enable on your own with jscan or whatever.

See, I knew some did. That's why I thought it was odd when they said the MOPAR kit was not compatible. Maybe it's because mine is a Sport S.
