I loved everything about my Gladiator with the exception of one thing...it couldn't really pull my camper to my satisfaction. If there had been the 5.7 option in 2022 this post wouldn't exist. But the mini van engine is the absolute wrong choice for the Gladiator. A very hard decision to part with it. Still have a Jeep Wrangler so I'm not out of the game but had to get a tow pig. My camper weighs about 4000-4200lbs fully loaded. I even re-geared to 4.88s. In the end I blame Jeep for poor engine choices. If you don't tow you won't find a finer midsize truck than the Gladiator.

Can't say I blame you. I tow a small 3,250 lb rPod TT at times with my Mojave. Stability is fine but a little more engine would be great.
I've thought for years that a 5.7L option would be perfect.
What did you end up with?

There was a Diesel option.

I'm going to guess it wasn't a power issue at all. The sound and everyone's fear of 5k+ rpms make them think the thing is under powered. The v6 doesn't make peak power until 6200rpm, you can't drive it around at 2k-4k rpm and then complain about the power. Don't get me wrong the truck would be better with more power and/or a v8 option, but it will roll 75+ mph uphill with a 4k pound trailer. My Mojave with stock 4.10s and 37s had no problems maintaining 65mph even up a grade that gains almost 4k feet in 20 miles towing an 8400lb trailer (yes it was over rated weight, a year and 20k miles later it was clearly unharmed).

For some reason people can't differentiate between a pleasant towing experience and simply getting where you're going.

My Gladiator has never failed to get where it was going while towing my camper.

My Gladiator has never once delivered a pleasant, worry free experience maintaining speed, merging and passing and lane changing at will while towing my camper.

People who say their Gladiator tows fine, sound just like the guys on the internet claiming their 89 F250 with a 300 6 tows fine.

Run through Atlanta or Chicago at 6pm towing your load and tell me you had an easy time.

Bumper to bumper traffic isn't a pleasant experience in a Ferrari or an f350 towing a little red wagon so I'm not sure the point of your example. I've been dealing with bay area traffic my entire career in dozens of vehicles and none of it has been enjoyable. The brakes and power of the JT are better thane the v8s of the 80s so yes I'll take the JT over any 80s gasser.

The only issue I have with Atlanta traffic when pulling heavy trailers is people always cut me off. It’s impossible to leave a safe following distance. Someone always fills the gap. A more powerful engine wouldn’t help with that.

New thread idea, the Jeep Gladiator brakes are too small!,
They aren’t though. They’re pretty huge for a mid sized truck. They were the largest in class when it debuted. I’ve always found them to be fantastic.

Anyone who’s not happy with the stock brakes really needs to adjust their expectations.
