I’m in need of the groups suggestions. I’ll be arriving in Moab 10/20 and staying for a week.
I have a stock Rubicon. I’m looking to explore and enjoy Moab, to see some beautiful scenery and do some moderate trails. I’m coming from southern CA and need to drive it home so not looking to do anything severe (like Pritchet Cyn.). I’ve never been but would love to do some of the more famous trails if they aren’t too likely to get my truck or myself into trouble. (I know driver skill is a big factor here, I’ve had some experience but still consider myself to be a little bit novice.

Please indicate if it’s a scenic trail or a technical trail.

Also I’ll be on my own, another reason to keep it not too crazy (hope not to need to call Rory despite how much fun it would be to meet him).

Hey Joe Canyon is scenic and simple. Chance of breakage about a zero as they come. But you'll get some fantastic views and it ends at an old uranium mine that's kind of fun to explore.

Hell's Revenge is something more famous and moderate. All the extreme obstacles are optional but well within the capability of a stock Rubi should you decide to try them. Definitely should put this on your "must do" list simply if for no other reason than because "everybody's heard of it"

I think you can do Fins & Things. I did this trail with my son solo. I had watched several videos as this was my first "real" trail and had a blast! Make sure you sign-up for the Jeep Badge of Honor program and earn a badge. As for other trails that are easy and scenic buy the Charles A. Wells guide. Also get a navigation all like Trails Off-road to help with tips and directions.

You can pick your bypasses on Hells Revenge so you don’t do anything outside your comfort zone. Fins N Things is pretty much the same. Poison Spider is doable but you’ll scrape the rear bumper everywhere. Onion Creek is a nice scenic out and back trail that runs through 26 river crossings. They’re all small though, probably only a few inches deep at most. It’s a 25 minute drive from Moab down the Colorado River, very easy on your rig. Chicken Corners is a nice scenic trail worth exploring as well.

Thinking about hopping over on 10/25, weather permitting. Want to hit Lost World and try some little scenic drives. Wife had surgery, so jostling rides are not on the "to-do" list.

Elephant hill is one of the most gorgeous trails out there. I’ve done it more than once with friends with stock rigs, even without your lockers. If you go, fill your tank before you leave Moab. Other than that, have a blast. You need to pay to do it, But it’s less than $10 if I remember right. Make sure to do the super short hike to see the confluence of the green and Colorado rivers. It’s something.

Hells revenge, fins n things, chicken corners, hurrah pass, poison spider. All doable in a stock Rubicon but you’ll definitely drag the rear on a few of them.

I thought Hey Joe Canyon was closed quite some time ago.

If you do and you are drive done the initial part of the trail and you come to. T intersection you missed the left hand turn a ways back. I did this trail late in the day and just at the end was treated to a beautiful sunset!

I did lost world at night on purpose. It was an amazing experience. So much wildlife out that you don’t see during the day. And no risk as it’s an easy trail. But maybe I should have started a tad earlier for that sunset. Bravo.

Next EJS I want to do some night runs. What is your lighting set up? Mine is super basic just A pillar lights.
