Transmission drain and fill at 60K

Wow. I’ve been meaning to do this for about 15K miles. I don’t know if it matters. But I used Amsoil. Let me tell you my transmission has never shifted this smoothly. I’m about 1K post new fluid.

All I can say is whether you use OEM or something else, change your ATF sooner than you think.

Was it shifting poorly before? Mine is 6 yrs old, never been serviced, and I can’t feel it shift unless manually shifting or in 4low

Probably need to do this myself. Waiting to get a new tranny pan and do it all at once. No shifting problems but I’d rather be left of bang than right.

When the time comes to change the ATF fluid in my '24 JTR or even now in my '16 JKU (49k miles on it), after reading all the things, steps, cautions, etc. on the threads here, I wish I could find a reliable company (or mechanic) that could do it for me (I'm in South Florida, Miami/Keys area). I'm more of a plug-and-play guy and when the stuff gets too many steps involved, I will defer to someone who knows what they are doing. Installing my winch was about as far as I want to go. Which makes me question who at a dealership even knows what they are doing. Are they following the ZF steps as listed?

Any recommendations for this stuff in South Florida?

OP, when you changed it did you just put in the same amount you took out or another method? I have read a number of threads where people often put in more than came out. Thanks.

Generally speaking its the same amount that initially drains out and what's left in the pan that same amount goes back in.
After changing filter and placing pan back. It is filled to the plug hole . Started put in the temp range gears cycled then while idling more added until it starts running out the hole a little again.
Disclaimer : that's a simplified paraphrase version.
(The reason sometimes its more is because they have found on occasion that some shipped with the fluid level slightly low.) And owner may not have been aware .

I recall back when I had my 17 TRD Sport, manual, I drove that 16k kms before draining oil in manual tranny and diffs and all 3 components were 1/2 full from the factory. I was pissed I drove that long with insufficient oil.
