I always thought the gas 3.6 gets the 8HP50 and diesel gets 8HP75... 850RE is for eTorque motors no?
I believe 850RE is the designation for the 8HP50 that is assembled in the FCA facility.

The 850RE has been used in Jeeps and other FCA vehicles for almost a decade. This isn't new at all. As I recall it's been in Grand Cherokee for several years. We've had 'em.
I just checked the build sheets for my wife's last 2 Grand Cherokees - 850RE transmissions in 'em.
It's standard for automatics behind the 3.6
It's a solid transmission with a great reputation but people here are talking like it's new or weak or has problems. It's in every Gladiator that has the 3.6 with an automatic.
The other is behind V8s or diesels because of the torque they can handle. The numbers are a clue 50 vs 75 for example.
The 8HP75 is simply built for more torque - otherwise it's the same basic design.

If it's gas and automatic, yes, it has the 850. That's a given in Gladiator - and others - with the 3.6
The JT has never used any other automatic behind the 3.6
The WK has used the 850 behind the 3.6.

If it's under warranty, they MUST follow the guidelines from Jeep. They can't simply replace any transmission that the owner says is bad without following certain procedures.
You should see what the dealer has to do in order to get paid for batteries! It's a heck of a process.
It ain't all on the dealer - they want to get paid, too.

As far as bad 850s - keep in mind this is the internet - it's where people gather to complain about troubles so it may look like a lot of transmissions have troubles but it's likely less than .01% - less than 1/10th of a percent.
My 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL was gas and it has the 8HP75, didn’t give me the option for the 850RE when I had it built.

As far as I know the 8HP75 was only used in Wrangler/Gladiator's with the EcoDiesel, Wrangler 392 and Ram 2500/3500 with the 6.4. The 8HP50/850RE is used for 3.6 V6 applications in Wrangler/Gladiator/Durango. The 8HP70 is used in Ram 1500, Charger/Challenger, Durango and Grand Cherokee with the 5.7.

I had it in my 2020 gas Wrangler so you’re mistaken

Unless they put it in there by mistake I can't find any reference anywhere to the 8HP75 being used in 3.6 applications, Wrangler included. It is standard on the 3.0 Ecodiesel though.

I heard they’re basically the same the 8HP75 imported from Germany while the 850RE is assembled by FCA

They are built on the same 8HP ZF platform but rated for different torque values.

What is the VIN of the Wrangler you claimed had the 8HP75 with the gasser?

Which explains why they use it in the turbo gas because of etorque but if you don’t have an etorque application it doesn’t make sense to me

Thanks, not trying to shove it in your face over it. Just like to drill down on things and learn something new if it is to be had. 8HP75 in a gas Wrangler or Gladiator is not something known or documented well.

I am not an expert on either model but there has to be a mechanical difference somewhere to make Jeep source one from Germany and the other built here in house by them.

There also has to be a pricing difference for them to source from two lines rather than just use one for both gas and diesel.

That makes sense… the 850RE must be cheaper and that’s why it’s sourced more
