Any thoughts on steps sliders? Specifically trying to decide between White Knuckle Off Road or Rockslide Engineering. I like the White Knuckle due to it being simple and strong. I like the Rockslide Engineering due to it having a step that drops down for easier entry for others. However, I am a little skittish about another mechanical thing that could have issues. The mechanical portion of the RSE gives me pause since we typically see more mud than rocks here. Would appreciate some feedback between these two unless you think you know of a much better option. Thanks.

I have the White Knuckle sliders. I've beat the shit out of them. All of my Power Wagon friends use White Knuckle. No one has reported a issue. I had mine LineX. Use rattle can spray bed liner for touch up. My wifey has Parkinsons. So I fabbed a bolt on step for her that only takes 3 bolts.

I didn't know about White Knuckle back when I bought mine. Looks like a solid option. I went with Rock Hard angle down so as to give the wife a step. Real happy with them.

I have have the rockslide Enginnering sliders with the secondary guard plate for two years .. 50,000 miles! Mud, rocks, sand, etc ( standard off-roading/overlanding stuff).
they’ve performed great .. no problems!

I had 2 sets of White Knuckle angled up sliders on my Frontier and Xterra. Bulletproof. No slipping on them when getting in and out, great finish. They just disappeared and worked, which is a great sign of a product functioning like it should.

I have Rock Hard Patriot angled down on both our new Jeeps (Rubicon X and Mojave X) and they are great too, the only negative being the finish isn't quite as good, I'm getting some chipping/surface rust from the Jeeps spraying gravel on them.

Both are good. Rock Hard offers an angled up or down option which is an important option.

I have RSE with the guard plate and have had zero issues with them. They have reworked the design of the 3rd gen to help with the previous mechanical issues. I have beat the crap out of mine and have swore a couple times that I would have dented them or something but nothing but a couple scratches that some touch up paint took care of. Just keep them lubricated to keep them from squeaking and you are good to go.

I've got the RSE, never had a problem with mud, snow or ice.

I have the White Knuckle Sliders and like others have said, you put them on and touch them up as needed. There is really nothing to fail. They work as a step and provide a platform for us to move around on when setting up the RTT or deploying the Awning, so they were a perfect choice for us.

The RSE steps definitely bring in the possibility of mechanical issues, but they are the best drop down step out there and the only one that doubles as a slider. Kids and wives love them.

The pivot points need to be lubed every now and then. It's one of those things, do the maintenance and they'll keep going. Neglect them and you may have issues.

You'll find plenty of horror stories out there with people having motor issues. RSE has had their ups and downs with them, though they take it really seriously, working hard to improve their product and their warranty/service help is really good.

Plus they are easy to rouble shoot if something does go wrong.

If you do mild to light wheeling, they're fine as they are. If you are wheeling mild to hard, get the extra armor.
