I have a JTRD on order. I sold my ’19 2500 Ram Cummins to carmax back in March due to multiple issues that caused me to be totally unhappy with the Ram. I did make money on this transaction. My plan was to order another 2500 when things calmed down with COVID and such. After a few weeks I started to anxious to get back into another truck. I didn’t expect the truck market to get as tight as it has. Also, I really started questioning my need to get another 2500. I decided to order a Gladiator and see how I would Like it, hoping I can trade it later without too much of a loss if it doesn’t suit me.
I knew the payload on the Gladiators was low, but I didn’t realize how low. I now understand that I will be looking at a payload under 1k lbs.
I’ve been looking at getting a Geopro 19fbs. I think it’s the perfect size For my wife and I. The weight of the TT is 3375 and hitch weight is 479.
My wife, myself and our Aussie probably add up to about 365 lbs. I’d really like to put 35s on the JT, but not many more mods other than a tonneau cover. I wanted a winch, but will probably go with a portable setup to save payload. My JTRD will be a soft top and plastic front bumper to save a little payload as well.
I’ve always been one to make sure I have a safety margin and not push the limits of my vehicle. What do you all think, am I going to push the limits of this setup? Any other TT suggestions? I never thought for a second I could not tow a 3300 lb TT safely when I ordered my JTRD. Now I’m questioning it.
