My vehicle has developed a chirp at 6k miles that has slowly gotten progressively worse. It used to only chirp intermittently on shut down, but now it does it all the time over the last week or so. I have 13k miles now. It chirps anytime you feather the throttle and will even do it at idle. You can hear it through the exhaust which leads my to believe itā€™s a bad turbo. You can also hear it chirp after shut down now 3-5 seconds after which also makes me think its because the turbo is still spinning. Anyone else have this issue yet?

Video below. My Jeep goes in Thursday for the bottoming out issue because my parts are in. I guess Iā€™ll add this to the list.

After further research on Facebook it appears the problem is an exhaust valve per another owner currently waiting on parts. Got to love these emission systems. This is strike 2 for me regarding emissions issues in 13k miles. Another issue and it might have to go bye bye.

Is that coming out of your tailpipe or are you hearing it up front?

Tailpipe. There is a back pressure valve right in front of the back tire/passenger door area. I guess the valve helps modulate temp for regens for the DPF. I think it's spring-actuated and is prone to developing a squeak. There is a guy in a FB group spraying his every other week with WD-40 to quiet it down because the part is on back order.

My Jeep is at the dealer for the bottoming out issue today for new shocks/bump stops
and I told them to take a look and order the part. When I get it back I will spray it down to see if I can get it to stop.

If it's the valve. Just get the AFE tailpipe. Problem solved.

Unfortunately that valve is before the EPA friendly tailpipe

And if you're in need of a valve, mine's been sitting in my basement for over a year so I'd be willing to swap you if you want to test it

They're going to warranty it. I'll see how the second one goes, but so far with two separate emissions issues in 13K miles all that crap might mysteriously disappear soon.

i believe that valve can also be leveraged as an exhaust brake, aka another version of a jake brake. I believe the Rams use it for that feature. GDE can add the feature to JEEPs with their tune.

The valve is there to create pressure to force the post dpf gasses to run back through the intake ā€œpost dpf egrā€

There is a great sounding ideaā€¦ extra back pressure on a turbo charged engineā€¦ ohhh shit sheā€™s breathing too well!! Choker off !!! Ahhhh yess deoxygenated intake gases perfect yes thatā€™s what we want to burn.

I think he was thinking of the throttle plate though I'm still not a fan of putting a diesel in vacuum and surging the compressor
