I'll start off by saying I HATE this thing. I will not buy another Chrysler product until they totally redo this piece of garbage. Here's an example..

I get in, start it up. "No Device." Audio, then Devices, then Bluetooth so it will play from my phone. Then, approximately six engine starts later, it forgets this and I have to do it all over again. OR, if I plug into CarPlay, it forgets it immediately and the very next time if I don't plug into CarPlay, I have to go through it again to play through Bluetooth.

WHY THE HELL DOES IT DO THIS? Is there any kind of fix for it? I'm just about ready to sell the thing and go back to WJ that has a normal stereo in it.

In for an answer, my 2018 Compass would always connect to the phone. My 2023 Gladiator will not, I have to connect to Bluetooth every time.

Go into "Dealer Mode" and see if your software application version is 40.1 or higher. If not, have the TSB update applied and should be cover by the warranty if it is still in the Bumper To Bumper. This applies to the 8.4 radios.

This fixed the intermittent dropping of my device from time to time and a few other niggles.

I am not sure what phone you are using, but here’s my 2c and hopefully it helps.

CarPlay is extremely finicky when it comes to cable choice. It has become worse with the latest iPhones and the 15 Pro is by far the worst offender to the point that I’ve heard there is a class action lawsuit building against apple. I have heard similar reports with some Android devices with Android Auto. The cable is 99.9% of the time the #1 suspect of the problem. If you are using an iPhone 15 PM like I am, the only cable that works semi reliably is the apple official cable, and even so I’ve had the stock cable not work reliably and the one that came with my AirPods pro 2 be flawless. It’s a game of trying different cables and seeing which one works.

Wireless CarPlay and AAuto I’ve heard nothing but complaints ranging from connection issues to horrible battery drain since it uses your phone’s WiFi connection to Wi-Fi Direct to the radio because Bluetooth does not have the bandwidth that is needed

interesting. Yes, I'm on a 15 Pro Max. AND... turns out that the cable I'm using is the official USB C-to-C cable that came with it.

It is in the document. You can also hold both up/down temp arrows and the front windshield defrost buttons at once for like 5-10 seconds on the HVAC controls and it should come up.

I rarely have any issues either on Wifi or if I plug in direct (which I do for long trips). I bought a CarlinKit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter which you can get for $46 right now. I also picked up a USB On Off Switch so if wireless doesn't connect I and easily reset it, and almost always connects if i have to do that - which is rare. iPhone 13 Pro iOS 17.4

My USB2 occasionally is not recognized, not sure my version but it is a late year 23 so I am betting I am on this TSB. Should I be complaining to the dealer about it to get visibility? Or is there some tricks to flash drives for better connecting?

That's weird. Compared to my Toyota sienna, my Jeep system is awesome. It pairs up easily, and instead of the multi second wait for the hands free to kick in a la the Toyota, it is nearly instant.

I've got no issues whatsoever. Whether it's my Android or my wife's iPhone. 21 Sport S Ecodiesel. It plays both of them without fail.
Edit:
They are both plugged in as well. Sometimes at the same time. Just have to choose which one I want to play.

UConnect isn’t the best interface. Ford sync was terrible too. I have no issues if connected to my 8.4 by wire. I have minimal issues if I use my wireless CarPlay device—occasionally have to disconnect and reconnect the adapter. I have an iPhone 15 pro, stay current on iOS, and I use this wireless device. I also run an Anker wireless charger, so my battery doesn’t drain using the wireless adapter—fitted to my bulletpoint mount. We run the same setup in my wife’s JL.
