Wow. This thread took a turn from the last time I was here. Now we have Government theorists, unconfirmed actual orders, huge written essays about how procurement works, and threads being deleted by OP’s.

Does the government know about the JT Plywood debate?

Can we take a quick brake here and discuss the other interesting statement from the OP?

The JL shutdown to retool for the hybrid engine
What do you mean "hybrid engine"?!?!? The 2.0 is already a hybrid so whats the new one?

Are they upgrading to the BSG 3.6?
Do you mean 3.0 eco diesel instead of hybrid? (this is where my money is at)
Are they already retooling for the PHEV?

Further clarification would be nice here.

It's a PHEV. The 2.0 is a mild hybrid.

After re-watcing the launch video, Mike Manley states "3.0 eco diesel will launch in 2019" (17:40) "PHEV will launch in 2020" (20:40). So, they were able to speed up development of the PHEV a full year (no spy shots of strange plugs or parked in EV parking) and shoe horn the BSG in the wrangler ahead of the already spy photoed diesel wrangler said to hit the streets in 2019?

I think we need more info, timing isn't lining up here.

PHEV is still launching in 2020. Diesel is supposed to be later this year (2020 for the Gladiator). So timing still lines up. I'm not sure if/when the 3.6 BSG is coming.

5 weeks if they do 70,000 per year in year 1. Maybe longer since it's at the start.
If the rumor is true, it sounds like they're doing extra shifts and 7 days a week in order to get the govt order and dealer orders out on the lot. Obviously there will be hangups at the beginning but with that kind of schedule it won't take too long to pump them out.

This is how it probably works: Gov. procurement : We would like to purchase 7,000 top of the line Jt Rubicons. Please inform me of the individual cost as well as a total for all 7,000 combined. FCA: The consumer price per unit is $55K. Your total cost is 1.2 billion. Included in that price are two additional units, one for you and one for the person you report to. Gov. Procurement: Check is in the mail!!!

Sorry to remove comments, but let's please keep the discussion focused on the Gladiator and not on labor unions (though we appreciate what you do @JL-Engineline). Thanks!
Your forgiven . . . but wondering if In the Context of FCA US/JEEP and in response to JL-Engineline, it could remain here; otherwise perhaps moved way down below in the "CHAT" section, for those who wish to pursue in a polite constructive way ? I'm personally done with it . . . I hope, in that it has made its way over to the JL side of the house & I've found myself using my step-dad's Union days ('60's/'70's) as a reason for . . . go figure - guess it struck a cord for some reason ! ?
