I have the Mopar 2" lift with Fox shocks, Hellwig sway bar, and Wildpeak 35's on my JTRD. I'm outfitting it for overlanding, but it is also my daily driver. Have a Contour Canopy, iKamper RTT, winch, water tank, house battery, fridge, slide, plus camping gear, clothes, tools, people, dog, etc. I have not weighed it fully loaded yet, but based on previous CAT weighs, I know it'll be right at GVWR. Even unloaded, the front bottoms out occasionally. I would like to upgrade the springs to handle the weight and better shocks, but do not want to add much more (if any) additional lift that would require more stuff to offset the change in geometry. I have read a ton of posts about suspension setups, but most are not geared towards the overlander. I don't want to just start slapping on new parts without having a full game plan, one that takes everything into the equation, including geometry and safety.

Should I go with a complete kit like these or can just swap springs and shocks?
AEV Dualsport XP with HD coils
Clayton 2.5" Diesel Performance Package
What other kits should I consider?

Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I agree, I'd talk to Clayton.

The Clayton 1.5" springs should be comparable in height to the Mopar 2" springs.

The Clayton 2.5" springs are quite a bit taller than Mopar springs.

I have the AEV Dualsport with their standard upgraded springs which add an additional 400 pounds of carrying capacity and absolutely love it!

The package is way more than just shocks and springs. It includes the geometry correction brackets and even a space to drop the drivesahft carrying u joint down to maintain the factory geometry.

The load out on my rig included a custom drawer set, a 30 gallon water tank (not usually carrying more than 10 gallons or so), a Battleborn battery, Redarc 1240 controller, an AluCab canopy and a RTT so our weights are pretty similar.

Which version did you get, the one with Bilstein 5100 or 8100? Did you install the relocation brackets? It looks like the relocation bracket lowers the control arm mounting point, decreasing clearance in that area. Am I correct?

I appreciate the feedback, very helpful

I got the 5100’s as I felt that was -plenty for my uses. I have them on another rig and they have been great. The relocation bracket keeps the angle of the control arm correct to factory specs so that the vehicles doesn’t dive when braking hard. Works great.
