Valve-Water Separator Drain

Has anyone had to replace the drain valve? I found mine broken during my last oil change. I had quite a mess getting the old filter off.

What is the best way to replace the drain valve?

Think you have to buy the whole housing. I have a spare housing without the filter. I'll let you have it for $50.00 plus shipping.

the dealer here in Denver wanted 750 for a housing…

I ordered one for 85 online and it came with a filter….

It seems that I can order just the valve. Online it is around $11. I just need to dig a little deeper to figure out how to replace it.

Just keep unscrewing it until it comes out, then screw the new one in.

I accidentally snapped mine off. I was able to Dremel the broken part and jammed a flat head screw driver in there to back it out.

DylanM for the win. It just screws out. Matter of fact, if youre not careful when draining, it will pop out and give you a fine damn mess. Ask how i know ?. Very poorly designed, i dont know why they couldnt have done better...

This reminds me of things to bring on the trail… I saw a diesel JT have the filter and housing crushed alongside the skid by a single rock. I’ll have to grab a spare housing and filter to carry.

DylanM for the win. It just screws out. Matter of fact, if youre not careful when draining, it will pop out and give you a fine damn mess. Ask how i know ?. Very poorly designed, i dont know why they couldnt have done better...

When I ordered 2 fuel filters from Moparparts. They sent me the whole housing and filters. So if any one needs a housing. I have a spare.

I installed the filter/transfer case skid plate from ASFIR. Price was $178. only took about a week to get it.

No idea why but the whole assembly with filter is not much more than just the bottom cup part. I would order the whole thing 68382328AB I did for the same reason. Or take rusty up on his offer.

Wow, im surprised someone smashed it, i was waiting to hear something in regard. You would be screwed on the trail, may have to look at an additional plate myself

I’ve seen more than one video from the Rubicon trail where a JL or JT diesel smashed the filter housing enough to leak fuel. Very hard to improvise something to stop the leak. It’s not very high pressure between the tank and engine, but enough to be a big problem.
