Hello,

I bought a 2025 Gladiator Rubicon X back in Oct of last year. Around mid February I started hearing a ticking noise while driving at low speeds or during coasting. This was just above 5k miles and it currently has 7700 miles on it.

I scheduled a service in mid march but had to cancel it as I was going out of town for a couple of weeks. I rescheduled for April 13th. I dropped off the vehicle and a couple days later they told me I needed a new Long block and it had to be approved by Chrysler. At first I believe they told them they had to tear down the engine first, but I am not sure this happened. They finally approved it on 4/29. Currently waiting for the parts to arrive. It has been quite frustrating from a communication stand point and not having a truck during this time.

Anyone else had this issue?

It's believable; for warranty coverage to get an engine replacement a tear down is a usual procedure before an engine, long block unit is approved and ordered. Many times there is a delay between the dealership service and the mfg mgr that approves the repair. Good luck on a fast installation.

Did they provide you with a loaner?

The dealership didn't have any loaners until May the first appointment and then June the second one.

Jeep Wave program is providing 50 dollars a day for a rental.
Jeep Wave rental assistance is usually only for same day routine service visits and not long term loaners for extensive repairs. Might want to make sure they are covering it for that and does not zing you after the fact.

Jeep Wave just requires weekly approval for this; keep in touch with them each week and they'll reimburse you at the end.

Jeep wave has actually been quite good at communication. They call and email nearly every other day. I already submitted my first week of rental reimbursement.

Well that's great they are taking care of it. I wonder what the issue with the motor is. As I understand it, a long block is basically a completely new motor, block, rotating assembly, and heads. Im an owner of a 2025 with 8600 miles so this thread really piqued my interest.

I have a 22 High Altitude that had 34K on it when I took it in for service and they told me the engine needed to be replaced under warranty. I had noticed a flutter and mentioned it and that’s how it was discovered. Same thing happened where I had to wait for the approval but instead of keeping the truck they told me to drive it until it was approved. That was about a week later and they took it in, gave me a loaner, and a week later I had my truck back with the new engine. Not sure if getting the truck back and driving it not under high stress is an option for you.

Come on Jeep! After designing such a great engine with acceptable power and economical performance, why don’t you just demand the supply chain to step up the hardening and longevity!

I boughy a new 2025 GLADIATOR MOJAVE X last summer and it developed an "engine click" . I took it back to the dealer that I got it from, 110 miles from home, to have a mechanic to listen to it but the service manager wouldn't let a mechanic take 2 minutes to hear it. Two other dealer mechanics said it was normal, "a jeep thing" but another dealer checked it out and discovered the right side? cam and lifters are visibly damaged ! It is torn down in their shop now and awaiting a new cam and lifters. It has 18,000 miles on it now but could have been diagnosed much sooner. The dealer got me a rental from ENTERPRIZE to drive until ?????

Just got the Vehicle back tonight, April 13th to May 12th. The noise was gone after the long block replacement.

Well that's depressing. That's the same time I bought my Mojave.

Glad they took care of it for you.
