Rather than Jeep investing in a modern Gladiator, we get "Special Editions" and the promise of an antiquated V-8 all for an overpriced mid-sized truck. As badly as I would like to replace my Glad with a future Glad in a few years, I suspect I will struggle paying Jeep prices for an old truck. What a shame!! By the time we get an updated Gladiator, the just released, all new 4 Runner will have a mid-life refresh. How about that perspective?!?
What's wrong with antiquated V-8s? Heck, have you ever heard a Ford Cosworth at full song? One of the winningest race engines of all time, and one of the 5 best sounds in the world!

I respect your opinion, but don’t agree. Solid axles favor off road capability instead of safety and comfort on the road. Removable roofs and doors serve no purpose but fun, and add significant cost. The shape has nothing to do with fuel economy or payload. They shape it like a jeep and know that it will sell. Short beds with no options for long beds like the competition. The only thing that makes it comparable is that it technically, is a truck. In my opinion. If I wanted a reliable mid sized truck for good prices, I’d buy a Colorado and choose the interior trim I wanted. These are marketed towards adventurers, not people that want to put 4x8 plywood in the back. Yes, I know you can. That’s why I mentioned it.
I'm just saying, by definition, it's a mid sized truck.

That's the class it lives in.

Whether it's a good one, is a matter of opinion, or subject to some tests, or whatever.

It's still just as much a mid sized truck as a Honda Ridgeline, whether bubba screams ain't no Honduhhh a truck in muh Merrica. It still is lol.

Isn't the payload for Glady 1 ton? Isn't that best in class? What isn't modern? - Its a JEEP its an affordable offroad rec TRUCK that you can drive on road - also let me know any other VEHICLE that has unlimited aftermarket mods that Wrangler and Glad have? Way I look at it, Jeep is the best because you can make it what you want - if you complain over something you bought - you're an idiot and didn't do enough research stop crying or trying to make headlines or "Rush Limbaugh" for attention. - I mean put the powertrain you want in it, change the dash to what you want. Put in the work if you don't like it. - And that can even mean you talking to the manufacturer and them seeing the value of your input. They make the things how they make em as they are obviously selling or they would adjust....etc.

Not trying to be mean just trying to comprehend what was the point? You the consumer can just move on, or better yet you make your dream car and sell it to the masses so I can buy one from you if I like it....etc.

The JL/JT are pretty modern as is, by Jeep standards.

Heck compare them to the JK which is in comparison a giant pile.

Not sure what you’re looking for. If you want modernization and refinement there are many SUVs to choose from.
Absolutely, when I bought a TJ in 2005 it was like I have bought a car which was produced at least 20 years ago. Which was fine for me.

The JT is much more modern and for me as modern as I like it. Don't miss anything.
OK, automatic wipers (or however it's called in english).

It sounds good, but it not even remotely competitive against the modern turbo hybrid powerplants.

Kinda like the hemis 🤣

It’s in the same class, but I don’t know why customers would ever compare it to any of the other ones there. It stands alone. Buy it or don’t. But don’t buy it because it’s a comparison between a Colorado, ranger, or ridgeline. The Honda is a truck. I just happen to hate it aesthetically.

I’ll take an antiquated naturally aspirated v8 over a twin turbo any day. Just for less complexity and maintenance.

Modern? Mine has adaptive cruise control that is as good as it can be in a Jeep. Park assist. Blind spot monitoring. None of my Wranglers ever had these. It also has a space ship sized infotainment. This is as "modern" as I would ever want any vehicle and probably too "modern". I don't care if they stop making the Gladiator since I have no plans on buying another.

I've never had to do more maintenance or had trouble understanding the "complexity" of any of my turbo engines. Never had one fail either.
Poor choice of words. Nothing wrong with turbos. Just my personal preference.

You should check the performance figures, the modern F1 power plant weighs more, is far more complex, is less reliable, costs ridiculously more, and all for a measly 100 horsepower over the 1986 spec Cosworth, which is also non force inducted.

If I were to drop a Cosworth into a 2026 F1 car, it would be instantly competitive.

Subaru's with the 2.5 are famous for eating their turbos. An after market company actually came up with the redesign that fixed that issue.
