I totally ignore anything on my JTR or my wife's BMW X3 regarding weather, traffic or anything related to them. I never paid anything nor will I pay for something that never seemed to work properly in the first place.

Just take you phone and a Nav phone app and you will get better information if you need to know that it's raining while you're driving.

I have a 2022 JTR with the 8.4" UConnect infotainment system. This time of year, I get some sort of weather alert almost every time I drive it. The weather alerts are always for Franklin County, which is approximately 80 miles from where I live in Boston/Suffolk County, Mass. Sometimes I see weather alerts for Worcester County, which is about 40 miles away. I have never seen an alert for where I live and drive.

Is UConnect really this dumb, or do others get weather alerts that are relevant to their lives?
I live outside of Tampa and I never get alerts here - even when a hurricane passes over my house, but if I go up North, it seems pretty accurate to the location I'm in.

Are you subscribed and/or paying for UConnect Services?

I’m not subscribed to any of that…. .
I don't subscribe to any Sirius or UConnect services, and as other posters mentioned, I get alerts when my phone isn't on or plugged in.

That’s so weird… maybe its where you live. 🤷‍♀️ I don’t get any weather alerts.

I get ‘tow truck’ alerts …. I’m not even sure I get emergency vehicle alerts….
Everyone should get those….. I don’t always hear them coming….(deaf in one ear).

Nope, I don't subscribe to any of that stuff. I use my phone when I need any of those type of services.

I get them with the 8” screen with nav. Usually get alerts within a 3 county radius. I actually appreciate it because we live in a wildfire area. As in 5-6 a year within 30 miles or so of the house. Between WatchDuty and the CarPlay telling me what’s going on I’m fairly well informed.

I have the 8.4 NAV on this JT, and the one before it. I regularly get weather alerts, and they are accurate for the area's I'm driving in.

7" display gives me nothing but tunes and phone calls! And the Garmin RV nav is better than our other vehicle's Uconnect nav.

Anyhow, we used to use a weather radio at the house. Even with our location code entered, we'd get weather alerts from all over the region. When a front comes through there would be another alert for each passing storm cell, for each county nearby, plus flood and wind advisories and whatnot. It was alerting all night long. I wish it could only alert for a tornado, then it'd be useful, but instead we just turn it off.

Is it possible those of you getting weather alerts have it as part of a SiriusXM subscription?
I've never seen a uconnect-based weather alert in any of our Jeeps. I have seen them via the Waze app. Those are often dumb because they are user reported, but they are at least hyperlocal. By dumb, I mean during some regional weather event, there is always some idiot who feels the need to "report fog" every 1/2 mile for 20 miles down the interstate.

I don't mind the emergency vehicle alerts, but we don't seem to have them in my area. I only seem to get them when I travel to more urban/metro areas. And don't get me started on the first time Waze or TomTom (I forget which) alerted me to a traffic enforcement camera! Scared the 💩 outta me! My state has ruled them unconstitutional, so we don't have 'em.

This reminds me of an instance many years ago. I was working as a Desk Sgt in the Marine Corps. We had an earthquake significant enough that our dispatchers evacuated the EOC so I was doing my job and their job. So in the middle of dispatching units to different sections to assess damage and impact I get a call from a guy that was maybe 5 miles away. He called in to report AN EARTHQUAKE!!!! My response was “Oh you mean the one that just shook the entire SW region of the US? Yeah I heard about that.” “Click”. 🤦‍♂️

The tow truck/disabled vehicle alert is annoying and honestly more distracting than useful. I always find it ironic that they are alerting me to keep an eye on the road by taking my eyes off the road.
The emergency vehicle alert is SUPPOSED to be distracting. Alerts in general are designed to be distracting. It distracts me for two seconds, I tap the "ok" box, and if I'm fiddling with the radio or whatever, I stop and pay a little closer attention to the road.

I have a new one for me..

First day in the 30's here on the west coast... I used the remote start as I always do so the engine warms up before I drive.

I got in the jeep and my defrost was on high, steering wheel warmer was on, and the seat warmer was on.

I know I didn't leave the defrost on and I've never used the steering wheel warmer in this car.
