Camping south of Post 2, anywhere you can drive your rig to. Even in the dunes.I was figuring it was kinda something like that. I'm from WA state, but my son and I've been on the Dunes with quads.
It's probably perfect with a Jeep, but was a little disappointed with the quads. Guess I let the hype get the better of me. Then again, throttle time is throttle time, and any throttle time is better than couch time.
That being said, I'd stop again if I was in the area. Hopefully I'll have my Gladiator down there someday and we can camp a night or two.
Is camping limited to the area close to the beach?
So what's the difference, is it a locals thing? Oceano Dunes vs Pismo Beach.
Dunes and sand in general is nothing new to me.Camping south of Post 2, anywhere you can drive your rig to. Even in the dunes.
Here's a pic from 2022 when some guys in the camp next to us crashes their rzr and needed help to recover it from the back of the dunes. With traction control off and psi below 15, 10 for towing, you can do anything at Oceano Dunes, just watch for slow speed break over angles cause that'll get you.

Had to look that one up... and I concur.. Other than Carolina good ol’ boys who are usually pretty friendly, I mostly get these lugubrious dudes who act like they don’t like people.
Cool idea on the multi-use tube. Assuming you're not pressurizing it to rinse?New Gladiator diesel off ramp #49 in Frisco, Cape Hatteras NC over 4th of July week. Softtopper top in safari set up, Datin Fab rack. The white tube holds fishing rods for the trip down, then sets up to hold fresh water to rinse off gear.

I built the tube years ago, had it on my old Liberty. There is a clean out pvc cemented on top, when I get to the beach and remove the rods, the plug is replaced with a standard plumbing air admittance valve. That allows the water to flow freely, has excellent flow, the tube holds about 12 gallons, it’s 6” pipe x 8’ long. Glued a valve on the bottom with a short piece of hose (from a washer). Next thing to work on is the rear carrier for the cooler. I’ve been going to Hatteras “OBX” since the 60s, family had a house down there until a few years ago, love it!Had to look that one up... and I concur. There's miles of beach and you choosing to be right on top of me is not welcome. Take your sour puss a few hundred yards further down already. Its why I don't go to beaches in town as is- I want to be away from people!

(When I built mine years ago I used a generous amount of silicone caulk and flushed a Schrader valve to hold a few pounds from an air pump to power the sprayer. It works well.)
Absolutely love Ocracoke! Nice diesel! How do you like that snorkel?Ocracoke Island, NC.

This is the 3rd Jeep and 3rd generation of Jeep I’ve had with one, but the pre filter and driver side mount is new to me. It’s definitely louder and it makes a vacuum cleaner wooshing sound with the window open. With the windows closed or with everything open on the interstate you don’t notice it. Around town with everything open you do but you get used to it and forget it’s there. It’s definitely not stealthy though. I’ve truly needed a snorkel for water exactly one time on my TJ with water up to the top of the hood. I don’t intend to drive this Jeep underwater but then again I never have with any Jeep so it’s mostly insurance for water crossings and flooding. Thankfully no one’s posting pictures of themselves driving their Jeeps through the surf. I see stuff corroding on my Jeep just from spending time near the water in OI. The valve on my new Worthington aluminum propane tank looks like a 4th season Grand Cayman rental scuba tank.Absolutely love Ocracoke! Nice diesel! How do you like that snorkel?
