Fishbone flip-up license plate bracket.. Beings the truck will be outside of our home area a lot this month, and I got it for over 40% off, I don't have to worry about it any more.
It will also keep the sun and bugs off the winch rope end.

Speaking of bugs - only owners of Jeeps and Eagles and similar vehicles need to clean bugs off the underside of their ride......

I put the Mopar Tube Doors on that I bought from @Steel City last week. Thank you, Gary!

It was a cool 50º for the ride to church but it was worth it for the 74º ride home.

Nice! They look just like the Amazon doors I bought for $350.

Really difficult mod today… 😆

Damn dude! OSHA would have a fit. No safety glasses, gloves, wheel blocks, safety cones, or MSDS! I'll bet you didn't even unhook and lock out the negative terminal. 😂

Finally have a good solution for an awning!

I want a 270 awning, but almost all of them on the market are around 8 ft long, so that means they have to be mounted high so they can extend over the cab. I didn't want this, so I've been hunting for a shorter option that I can still keep tucked behind the cab. I eventually found the OVS 270 LTE which comes in at roughly 65 inches long. Problem one solved.

Next was how do I mount it on a half rack with a clamshell tent? Instead of mounting to the rack, I decided to mount to the tent, so I fired up Fusion360 and went to work. This is what I came up with.

I do have to make some changes. Well, I don't HAVE to, it will work as is, but there are things I can change to make it work better. I need to shorten the brackets on the awning side because when deployed they hang too low and interfere with my access panel door on the enclosure. Thats an easy fix. I really want to store the cross brace inside the brackets, but that will take some redesign of the cross brace to gain enough clearance for mounting bolts. I would also like to leave one end of the cross brace permanently attached to the tent side so it just pivots out when you need to set it up.

The great thing about this, I can deploy the awing with or without the tent deployed, and I can deploy the tent without needing to put the awning out.

After I was half ways through this project I found someone online that makes something similar, but instead of using the cross brace they just use a pin to lock it in place. I like the cross brace design better, I feel it's going to be far more sturdy, and gives the option of multiple angles.

I had thought about something like that where I could just raise/lower it as needed, or slide it inwards/outwards. I have an idea to make the height adjustable with my current design, but I don't know if I'll really need it because it's currently high enough for me to walk under in the driveway. The real test will be next week while in Utah.

The only thing I don't like so far is the gap that is left between the tent and the awning. If it's raining theres going to be a good river of water running off the tent roof and behind the awning and making a mess. I've been trying to think of a way to divert the water without being too intrusive. My initial thought is a small channel that bolts onto the bracket and just diverts the water to the sides.

Ours doesn’t need to be raised. It’s fixed in that spot. But I can raise it to remove it. But it fits under the garage door without removing it. We get the water thing as well, but not very much.

Put the Kane Creek badge on. Only one more will fit on the passenger fender, and the driver side is full. I guess it’s time to find the next spot, as two are back ordered and haven’t shipped yet. And used it to ferry Willy’s parts and 18 quarts of old oil to the parts store.

I want to sit down and decide where to put the badges on my truck. I have 14 from the JK. Maybe that will be my next mod 😆
