Any disconnect option is game changing on the trail. But bring your rubber hammer with you to get them back connected unless you’re on a leveled slab. And some astroglide.
One fellow showed me a tip - how he does his if it's not real even, using a bar in the spring to raise or lower the end of the sway bar. He said that can be "a thing" but he either manages or drives to a flat area to reconnect and then uses a bar.

I won't need them a lot, so not wanting to spend many hundreds, nor do I need fancy. So I figured any way would help.
There were at least 3 different types there in use.

Bill, they are expensive but Apex disconnects is one of the best things I did, you lean over a bit and turn a knob then push on one side of front bumper to lock one then go . I have done mine then helped a guy with his manual disconnects with pins laying on the ground trying to line them up . No way I would be using a bar in the springs, tell your wife some other old guy told you it is what old guys do , who is going to help us up off the ground after rolling around twice . Sounds like a Christmas present to yourself. It really does make the solid axle shine off-road….Jack

Yeah so you replied to me when I initially trimmed it and I was confused by how you cut so much metal off but I think you have the track bar only brace and not the one with the sector shaft as well? I just ordered the brace without the sector shaft brace section because it's definitely lower profile but I really don't want to pull the axle back either. I'll think about it. I'm not opposed to moving perches either.
It's the sector shaft brace.

I can't see why you'd be laying on the ground trying to get things reconnected when access is right there close to the front. The one guy showed how he did it. Gotta say, I'd bet of all of the disconnects there, I only saw the Apex on a couple of then - really some bigger money builds. Most ran the pinned type.

I can't justify $500 for a once or twice a year use thing for an otherwise stock vehicle that did ok without, but would have been smoother with disconnects.
That's a lot of money for very very occasional use since it's only at events like that where I'd ever think of using such a thing

I can see your point, also I think it is much more about the articulation then smooth ride, in that picture my passenger side is stuffed into fender and driver side is way down but in contact with ground without sway bar disconnected driver tire would probably be six-eight inches in air allowing truck to tip that way perhaps .

I did a lot of digging on the JL side of things last night - found a number of people using the Metalcloak or Teraflex disconnects.
Same story over and over "only takes a couple of minutes under the worst of conditions"
https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/sway-bar-disconnect-options.87857/

From another Wrangler forum thread - again, all positive on the cheaper disconnects, I see no one complaining (some even simply carry wrenches and disconnect the stock links - now that would be the real hassle, IMO)

The nice thing out there was - everyone was well-experienced, both in building, and in trail driving.

I agree hate chopping up good hardware. Except in the case of @WILDHOBO 's pumpkin catcher 😂

I had the Apex on my Wrangler. I really wish I would have taken them off before trading them in. I plan on buying another set. I would never use the older pin style again. The Apex are worth the money just in ease of use.

I was actually gonna go with he dropped a mirror walked under a ladder and let a black cat cross his path while under the light of the full moon at harvest time. But..yeah that too.

How about an electronic sway disconnect? There are 2 local to me on fakebook. One is $300 and the other is $500. You could easily wire it up to an aux switch and disconnect it anytime you wanted.
Kinda wish i had that kind of control over mine.

I have seen several guys buy that Rubicon disconnect and install it in sport models which you can find those in spades on lkqonline.com but the Mojave has those front reservoir shocks so I dont know if that interfers with that or if its out in front of that space that is utilized for the remote reservoir
