The lawmakers have a good motivation, however, the end result of "hands-free" laws is nothing.
Study after study, including by Mythbusters themselves, university studies and so on, show that it's not the act of touching or holding the phone that's the issue - it's the distraction of the conversation itself. Hard to understand unless you see it proven out in front of you.
There's no difference holding or not holding the phone or going hands-free. It's the very act of conversation, thinking about it, paying attention to it and not your driving.

Nice efforts by lawmakers, but it's not going to save lives, people will either work around the law in some ways - and, how are you going to be seen using a phone zipping down the highway at 80 mph when there are no cops to see you.........
Only if you actually cause an accident and they check phone use history will it come out.

I learned from the mistakes of my siblings. My sister took out a row of mailboxes changing the station. Hood, windshield, and maybe the grille of a '72 Chevy P/U. Strange to think it was 16yo truck at the time, and cool to drive. Is there anything from 2007-9 that kids really want to drive, or be seen in?

I was sitting at a stop light and was rear-ended by a car that was pushed into me by another car where the driver dropped his sunglasses and reached over to get them and BAM. Hit the car behind me shoving it forward.
The guy got mad at ME for pushing his insurance to pay for both vehicles' damages. He was mad because we were there, not because he was an idiot who couldn't wait to get his sunglasses.

No excuse for leaning over, totally taking eyes completely off the road ahead of you, losing concentration. He was an idiot. He could pull over, stop, get the sunglasses, then continue on.

Sounds like the drive back to work today from getting Taco Bell, just no manual crank windows, but all the rest including the manual transmission, reaching for a Taco Bell burrito supreme while unwrapping it and sipping a 32oz Baja Blast Midnight that just squeezes into the second cup holder, as it interferes with shifting gears if in the front one.

I found that I bent my metalcloak frame bracket reinforcement on the passenger side. I was able to partially straighten in in the press, but it’s not perfect, so the link isn’t perfectly straight or plumb on that side until it’s fixed. But it will work and it’s strong.

Coal furnace, rabbit ears with foil. AM radios. Help with putting chains on the school bus to get to school on time when it snowed. Had neighbors that still had outhouse in the backyard.

Stoking the coal furnace at night. We used to call that " beating the dragon in the balls".
