^ I'd be bashing that thing when I offroad. šŸ˜‚

RTT mode has now been activated. Think I might hit up the San Juans this weekend, the Alpine Loop is already cleared for the season, crazy stuff.

Had the local off road shop balance the tires today. They're way booked up and squeezed me in, so that was cool of them. They gave everything a once-over while it was on the lift and had nothing but good things to say. I like those guys and respect the work they do, so it was a nice bit of validation even if my garage-monkey cocky-ass self already knew my Jeep is set up just the way I want it. Nice to hear some other folks that see thousands of rigs compliment it.

Got out on a little flat side road to test the 0-60 with the new gears. 92° outside, tires at 30 psi. 45,000 miles on the Jeep.

I think it's about the same as before, quicker in any given gear but more shifts to get through. Video always makes it look slow. It's not fast, but it is spunky. Pretty damn impressive technically to think it's only a little 3.0 and it's turning 40s. Have to throw it in 4wd to keep it from roasting the tires in the first couple gears. The MRT transmission tune plays much better with the 4.88s and 40s than it did with the 3.73s. And it'll get off the line a lot faster if I brake boost it but I'm hesitant to now with the smaller pinion and a trip next week.

The gears were totally worth it for general drive-ability, though. Much more pleasant. People keep saying the diesel doesn't need gears... I disagree. I mean I guess technically it doesn't need gears, but technically the gasser doesn't either.

This is the Jeep for those that haven't seen my other posts. Diesel, "stage 2," AEV snorkel, AFE intake and intercooler tubes, 4.88s, 40s. Full size spare, armor, winch, drawers, rack and RTT, trusses, etc. Pretty heavy. I'll get it on the scale sometime this week.

Still waiting on a 50L water tank, fuel/oil filters to show up, then we load up and head for the Rubicon, among other places.

Pulled the trigger on the Falken Wildpeak A/T 4W 35x11.5x17 today for my otherwise stock '26 Mojave X and they are as nice as my old 34s on my last gladiator. Ride on pavement is great and I'm headed to WY to go off-road and camping this weekend so they'll be nicely broken in by the time I get back.

Nice. Can you give some feedback in a few weeks or months on how these are doing? I’m assuming your other ones were AT3? I think the AT4 is pretty new right?

I’ve got almost 5k on a set of 35x11.5 AT4Ws on my JTRD and love them. On road they’re quiet and ride great just like the AT3s they replaced and they do as well in slick mud. Haven’t tried them on rocks yet but I’m very happy with them.

Finally got around to installing the RSE sliders/steps that have been in the shop since their last sale. The diesel isn’t lifted like my first JT but they sure make things easier for a short fat man.

Drain and dropped the pan. Cleaned everything up. Changed the filter in the pan. Install it. Pump fluid in until it started to run out. Put the plug in. Start the engine and let it run for a while. And run through the gears sitting there. Got the temp up to about 100F. Put the plug and top it off until the fluid started to run out. Put the plug back in. Cleaned everything up under the Jeep. Then took a ride to get everything up to temp. Came home and checked for leaks. It only took 5.5 qts to refill it.

I can see why they sell the pan and filter together. The pan gasket is part of the pan. Thank god it's reusable.
This is good info, seems mostly like the factory direction and I'll do the same. Thanks for the detailed reply.

While not my Gladi, I did finish up the cap build for my buddies. More photos in my build thread.

As far as my truck, I ripped the drawers out of the bed to rebuild the cabinet for them. I originally built them out of 1/2in ply, but need to rebuild with 3/4in. Also started a DIY 2kw diesel heater build in a Bauer modular toolbox. Designed and 3d printed a few pieces for it yesterday, should be able to get that wrapped up this weekend.
I think Gobi is the best color but damn if Sarge Green and bronze isn't one of the best color combos out there. Also your work on the cap/enclosure and what you've been doing, super dope.

Aye! AllRoadsTaken and Jeep should make molle mounting badges!
I didn't know about All Roads Taken until this comment and those are tempting to switch to... I think I might run out of room.

Also, when are we meeting up to run the Mesabi?

Added a new ARE Classic bed cap this morning...

I am a sucker for these body color matched ARE caps. I think they look SO good.

There is a thread on guns. Some people on here are anti 2A.

Since my Bulletpoint mount now has a radio clip, I decided to get a couple GMRS radios (okay, that was my excuse to buy another toy....). I already have 2 HAM radios and I am currently doing the online course for my amateur license, basically something to learn and to occupy my mind...and I can press that transmit key on my 5 year old handheld instead of just listening.

As everyone knows GMRS radios require a license, but no testing. Simply apply at the FCC site for a license good for 10 years. I started that sentence with "simply" out of sarcasm. Having just navigated the insanely complicated FCC site, I now await my call sign and license.

Yeah, I followed all the rules and regs, but when I was done I thought, "I bet NO ONE goes through all this crap for a walkie-talkie license !!". Do they make it that complicated to reduce licenses to only those that truly want it ?? Or is it par-for-the-course government red tape crap ?

Has anyone here ever heard of someone getting busted while transmitting unlicensed on GMRS band ? I found 35 bucks for a 10 year license is worth the piece of mind, because it's MY luck I'd be the first one busted.... I got that kinda luck.
I used GMRS radios for a number years without any license. Those guys don't headhunt the way Ham's do.

Anyway, after I got my amateur Technician license, I bought the GMRS license for giggles.

My factory ones on the new Mojave were 33" AT3 but I didn't get to run them long. The AT4s have been out for a bit and I put quite a few miles on everything from rocky desert to Utah snow on them on my '22 that I traded in for the Mojave X and they were flawless. The short period of time that I ran the factory AT3s I wa every happy with them but that was less than 700 miles. I can say confidently that If they had been 35" I would not have switched out of them

I'll do a more comprehensive report soon, actually I'm headed to WY this weekend to go camping with some buddies and will end up doing some long highway driving AND running off-road in the mountains even on snow.

I still need to figure out the GMRS license. I did the registration and all that but couldn’t navigate to the payment section. Kept kicking me all over the place. I’ll have to call and get er done one of these days.

I wish I could have gotten Gator, but it's a 2020 color so unfortunately no diesels. Gobi would have been my 2nd choice. Only reason I ended up with white was because I just happened across it at the dealership in town who got it in on trade. It hadn't even made it to the lot yet, so it was either jump on the opportunity before anyone else snatched it up or spend who knows how much more time searching.

Not opposed to Mesabi, but both Cylas and I are admittedly a little hesitant with it being up to a 9 rating depending on where you look. IIRC you stated most wasn't too bad except a few select spots?
