Installed a Spiderweb Bikini Sunshade today. It was actually very simple to do. I did unscrew the 4 bolts holding the windshield to gain access as others have recommended. That made it very easy to hook the 4 front shade clips to the frame. I didn’t remove the windshield wipers and just had my wife hold the windshield about a foot off the frame while I hooked the clips. The sides and back connections were easy to attach with the pull strap provided in the kit. After everything was tight, screwed the 4 windshield bolts back and all done. Total installation took about 30 minutes and probably would only take 15 minutes the next time, now that I know what I’m doing. I then took the Gladiator out for a test ride. No flapping, nice shade from the sun and happy with this sun shade overall. Also, I’m 6’2” tall and it doesn’t touch my head (5-6 times inch clearance) as it goes over the bar top. I was able to get my freedom panels back in with the shade installed with no problems. It just takes a little more finagling and adjusting than before, but can be done.

Here are some pictures to help if you decide to install a spiderweb shade. If I could do it over, I would have bought the full length shade instead of the Bikini front half only. Regardless, I highly recommend this company and fit for the Gladiator. Quality is good and has a 5 year warranty, also made in the USA!

Note: I tried Bestop Targa Bikini and sent it back. Seems the Bestop shade would have to be removed before reinstalling the freedom panels each time and that was not for me.

Question @RSK : with the spiderweb shade installed... do the freedom panels fit if you have hothead headliners on them? Should fit, right? Also, why would you have gotten the full shade rather than the bikini shade for the front?

I installed a Curt Spectrum brake controller (and took the RV out for a test ride), and a new decal.

The controller and adapter harness were ordered from Amazon: Curt Spectrum Controller, Curt Harness Wanted to wait for the factory controller, but at the rate FCA is going it won't be out in the 4th quarter like it's supposed to be. Anyway, installation is crazy easy as you can do what I did or stick it anywhere with or without holes (they proved two different mounting methods).

Setup is stupid simple and it does what it's supposed to do, and IMO, looks pretty darn good. Gladiator towed the RV like a champ (3200lbs). Felt pretty darn similar to my Ram 1500 (It had the same V6 and 8 speed transmission).

The new decal says Rogue One in Aurebesh (Star Wars alphabet).

Any noticeable difference in sound or heat?
I just picked up the gladiator a couple hours before they were installed so don't have any reference on the heat. But the sound deadening yes if you tap on the top big difference with and without. I did make my own for my JK years ago helped with the heat for sure. Also I think the stereo sounds better.

I did a little final tweak on my 67 Desugns rail mount and phone holder. It is a bit pricey but solid. It holds my iPhone 8 Plus in an otterbox case nicely. Phone not shown since it was taking the quick pics.

Then my all weather Mopar mats. I do like these.

Finally, I got my Curt Spectrum brake controller installed. I chose to put it on the console in front of the t-case shifter. The spot on the dash by the steering wheel opposite the start button looks a bit cleaner but the left spoke in the wheel hides the dial with my normal wheel and seating position.

The console position for the dial is nice. Indicators are peripherally visible and I can give a trailer brake tap easily without looking. With the hand on that shifter, a brake tap is a fingertip away. I did fab a short spacer to raise it up half an inch.

With some more shop tools, and better fab skills, I can envision putting this dial into a recess on top of the t-case shift knob. It might not work for everyone but would be fine for me. And this leaves the 12v outlet in place.

This means when it snows its gonna leap off the roof and land in a pile on the hood, and I'm wondering if ice on the roof will form if it doesn't drain well and now I'm asking if there's gonna be icicle's near the door opening and now I'm worried all that tech is gonna malfunction and the door won't open... but that would be pessimistic.. so I'll just say dudes with lifts need long ass ice scrapers with huge brushes on one end.
i recommend the original sno-rake.
