Trying to finish the back lid Coverking/ Killmat install……

Nice! I am going to be doing the same thing in a few weeks. Any tips? I see you used the heat gun trick to set the glue on the Kilmat. Did you do that for the CoverKing tape too?

Tips:
On the Kilmat, 3 sides have clean cuts, use the ‘good’ side for alignment.
Layout the full sheets for max coverage, less trimming.
Use full length strips on flat areas, difficult on curves and corners. Get a small 2”ish oval (not flat) roller and trim tools to smooth it out.

XM Radio /Sat clear area.
Use trimmings to square up for strips.
Better to have a gap than to overlap…….

Find and Things Friday with @Offroadnewbie. Top of the World yesterday. Steel Bender today before driving home. Did the wall without issue (rolled right over it), but u-turned at dragons tail and skipped widow maker. Super sweet trails. Met up with some nice Toyota folks today. Some very interesting recovery situations. Not because they were Toyotas though. Sketchy terrain. Strapped a 4 runner down dragons tail, then winched two of them back up it when the next obstacle was virtually impassable. Great day. No damage, and used almost every recovery item I own.

Wish I could have joined for top of the world. Definitely need to plan a more dedicated trip next time, hopefully no other plans get derailed in the future for me

My vertigo is kicking in just looking at the pictures. Don't think I will ever be able to get even 50 feet away from that edge. LOL

Haha. I’m not great with height. I was only able to have enough time to do Fins and Things. Definitely have more to go back and try. Maybe even contemplate a lift before going back

Took the full top off for the first time today in the later afternoon once it cooled off and drove the wife and kids around town running some errands. Was truly a fantastic experience, even as I was pulling in to the neighborhood my wife said "are we done already? I was enjoying this" so I happily u-turned back out and we drove into town again for a snack.

It was refreshing seeing everyone enjoy it so much, it really cements it in my head that it was a worthwhile purchase. Sure, we gave up that cabin space and bed space, but evenings like this one show that the trade offs for us are absolutely worth it.
