What did you do WITH your Gladiator today?

Filled up a couple more gas cans for the big pump today. May seem a bit silly to keep 30-35 gallons of gas on hand but that gives me 10-11 fills of the generator. On my current setup that’s around 15-20 days of power for the house if it’s needed. It’s nice to have a truck bed to haul stuff like this. Can’t even begin to state that enough times. Life is better with a truck. 🛻

I have a 55 gallon drum setup that I keep gasoline in. Use it for all of my power equipment and house generator. I keep it at least 50% full at all times. I fill it up in the early spring with lots of Stabilizer.

I noticed that one of the screws on my Bulletpoint Mounting Systems arms was loose. I couldn't reach the screw with a screwdriver and I had no idea where my stubby was. So I took a screwdriver bit, put in in the appropriate sized socket and tightened up the screw.

When I pulled the tool away, the bit fell out and went RIGHT down my defroster vent. I mean IMMEDIATELY. No skipping around the dash, no bouncing, right down the hole like a rabbit escaping a fox. The bit traveled FAR, making sounds like a dime dropping down a payphone. Only the Jeep itself knows how far down it went.

Of course.

Funny part ? When I went out there I remembered the post of a member dropping a screw down his vent. "Maybe I should put a shop rag over the vent." I said to myself. My lazy self said, "Nah, this'll be quick.".

It was.

Hopefully it'll never make its way to a damper or fan blade or something...

Vevor 35 gallon tank from Lowes. About 200-250 depending if it’s on sale. It’ll also cost you a little elbow grease taking the pump apart and smoothing edges but it beats $500+ for other setups. No electrical pump to futz with or anything. Crank it, suction happens, fuel comes out. As long as you don’t need anything fancy but want something with wheels and some convenience it does very well. Don’t have the yellow one for the tractor yet but I will eventually. 35 gallons of diesel for a compact/subcompact tractor will go a long long way.

Had to laugh reading this. I do crap like that all the time. “Well I should get (insert tool/equipment here) to do that because it’s smarter. Nope that’ll take an extra 2 minutes. I’ll just get it done.” And almost every time an hour or 2 later I’m cussin up a storm, my Doby is looking at me like I’m crazy, and I’m fixing the mess I could have prevented. I’ll learn one of these days. But today? Today is NOT that day.

I was eyeing that online actually. I used to keep 3 or four 5 gallon cans filled for the generator, but finally got the house setup with a natural gas outlet and quick connect hose, so gas will be the backup there. But for the tractor diesel it would be nice. And I’d just lift it out of the gladiator with the tractor after filling it. But not a priority compared to all the other big projects I need to finish before the snow.

It’s a bear to lift. It’s Not just the weight that’ll get ya but the vertical dynamic weight. I leave mine planted on the ground and fill with the 5 gal cans. You’d have to strap it to a pallet real good to lift it with forks. As it is the forks are too close together to get a good solid lift without it shifting when full. That’s if you can even get your forks close enough together to get under it. It’s not perfect, but it’s as close to perfect as I’m willing to spend.
