I have the security gateway cable, i have the jscan/alfaobd recommended OBD thing, don't remember exactly what it's called but mx+ is on there. So i should have access to the entirety of jscan within the confines of what my vehicle and its options allow. I bought it to make my DD elite headlights work properly, but now that I've got it and spent the $200 between the obd, cable, and license, i figured time to see what else I can do with it.

I searched this forum, and found plenty of people asking similar questions, but the threads soon devolved into intricate directions on highly specific items like installing and the process of enabling prox locks. I didn't feel like digging through pages of intricate step by step instructions when all I'm really looking for is a barebones list of what I can get this thing to do.

I also went through a good portion of the adaptations menus, but there's a lot of bloat in there with this program obviously being designed for a multitude of vehicles and trim levels, so I was hoping people who'd already made changes could help clue me in. I've tried some of the ones that look like they should work but just plain don't (like ASS off), and that's what brought me to this point.

For reference, i have a 22 mojave manual with tow, aux, hardtop, and nothing else. The only camera on my truck faces backwards, so stuff like auto highbeams isn't happening for me. That being said, having this as a resource that everyone can access would be nice so don't leave other stuff out just because I can't use it.

Any help is appreciated.

Following this, I am about to invest in jscan as well and am curious on what useful things can be done with it beyond just recalibrating the speedo.

First thing I would do is turn on hood ajar VTA - this means that when someone opens the hood, the alarm sounds. Amazingly this is not enabled by default...

I also enabled the rear fog lights. This adds an output to the BCM for euro-spec JT's that have those REALLY bright rear red fog lamps. But, I used it to activate my Diode Dynamics front fogs with a relay. But now I don't have to reach over to an AUX switch to turn them on

Lastly, when troubleshooting, you can use it to run diagnostics like ETC Follower Mode (making sure the accelerator pedal and the throttle are talking to each other). There are others like monitoring voltage on O2 sensors, looking at STFT and LTFT, cat temps, coolant temps, MAP pressure, etc.

You can use it to set idle RPM up as in when winching or when using your jeep to jump start another vehicle to keep voltage and output up.
I use the heck out of it for diagnostics.
Tire size is another thing of course.
TPMS pressures for tire changes (I set the PSI down since I have different than stock tires)
There are a number of maintenance things it can be used for as well, resetting modules and so on.
You can use it to read the steering column angle when re-centering the steering wheel after a lift or similar changes.
He's got a sort of off-road page setup in it as well.

So I’m leaning towards Jscan because I’m an IOS user. I downloaded the app. Now I guess I need this

And this?

Then purchase the license and I’m good to go?
.... I'd buy Z-Autos extender too. That way you only have to remove the trim piece once.

https://www.zautomotive.com/product/z_sgw_ext/

I plugged in about 30 times last year. Remove steering wheel lower trim, install bypass cable, do stuff, remove bypass cable, reinstall trim. Eventually broke clips.

With the above, you just install it and leave it there. You still have to install the bypass when you want to do things, but the cables are right there stuffed neatly under the trim - no more ganking your hand up to the SGW.

@azmojave just to be clear on this...

The SGW has 2 plugs going to it from the factory harness. When using MX+, you unplug them both, and plug them into your Bypass cable. The SGW is now out of the loop. The MX+ plugs into the other end of the bypass cable. You don't use the actual OBD port. Then when done, you disconnect the bypass cable, and plug the factory harness ( 2 plugs ) back into the SGW.

With the Z Auto Extender, you unplug the factory 2 plugs from the SGW, and plug in the extender to the SGW. The factory 2 plugs plug into the other end of the extender. It just moves the factory plugs lower, so you can get them very easily with no trim removal or torquing your wrist and hand. When ready to do MX+, you unplug the factory cables from the extender, and plug them into your Bypass cable.

Hope it makes sense.

I just downloaded the Jscan app yesterday, but my OBD2 bluetooth dongle doesn't fully work. I can see everything that's going on with my vehicle and clear codes, but I can't make any changes to the settings. The Jscan app website only lists two dongles tested to fully work on my JT Gladiator: the Vgate vLinker MC+ and the OBDLINK MX+. The cheapest Vgate that I have found is $50, and the OBDLINK sells for $140+. I also see a Nexas NexLink dongle that claims to be compatible for $18.99 at https://www.ebay.com/itm/134212062125 . Has anyone had any experience with any of these, and could you recommend?

Did you get the security bypass cable that you have to plug in and then plug the BT adapter to the bypass cable? You can't connect a BT adapter to the OBD port and make changes.
I use the MX+

You MUST have the black cable with orange ends to use an app to make changes.
