My response wasn’t meant as an attack on you personally Jeffe, so much as a response to the “reverse snobbery” I often see sometimes targeting folks who do have similarly equipped rides. That’s an awesome pic btw @kb5zcr, there aren’t very many beaches left you can drive on. Glad YOU get the most use out of your rig. My point isn’t to offend anyone, it’s pointing out that for every 10 roof top tents that are sold, probably 8 are fashion statements. Very few people “overland” - most of us camp.
I’m glad all of these companies exist, I’m also glad people who don’t truly “need” their products are able to purchase them, as this is how they stay afloat.
Most of us though, do look silly parking on asphalt or in a garage 360 days a year with rotopax and Maxtrax mounted with our axe at the ready. Hell you can make the same argument about all of us running 37’s and lift kits that don’t really “need” them.
Again, my point? Let people spend their money on what every want (like the point of this whole thread) - Different strokes for different folks.
Even an arrogant fool like me who isn’t worth engaging with can spew out some thoughtful insights, I think.
Seems in the Jeep community, you have people talking shit about Jeep owners who don’t Offroad their Jeeps. Then you have guys who talk shit about other guys whose rides look like they’re going on safari.
You can’t win. . . ?
