Until recently, my unpopular opinion was that the removable roof panels were a bit of a waste, and I could never see the point behind taking them off. But now that I've actually tried it, I get it. And I brought the family along and they kind of liked it too. Front only. Have to open a back window to reduce buffeting, and my kid doesn't like it at high speed, but it's still kind of fun.
I can only remove mine at night, when its drops below 100 degrees.

It's most certainly not parasitic drag and you have probably similar rotating mass with the gear shafts that are constantly spinning as you do the planetary assemblies. In the grand scheme of losses in these bricks, the losses in the transmission are a rounding error.

You can't really just look at EPA numbers and call that a day. The tests have an average speed of like 50mph or something with bursts up to higher speeds but I can guarantee if you took both on the freeway at 70 you're going to see better out of the AT. There are definitly conditions where the MT will be more efficient but the AT will win out at higher speeds you will see on any average freeway.
Is that a money back guarantee :)

86 here at 8:00 am. Expected high 100-102 for a couple of days or so.
Our highs are normally well under that. Worse is the drought. We've already lost a lot of flowers and plants and leaves are dropping off a couple of species of trees. Grass is basically dead in many areas, soy beans have started to shrivel, corn is looking pale and the leaves curled to conserve moisture. Creeks have stopped flowing and the birds are so desperate for water they've started drinking the water out of the ant moats I have on some of the bird feeders to keep ants out.
Neighbor has started taking laundry to town because of lack of well water.
I'd accept the heat with less grumbling if we at least had water.
Can't wash vehicles here now, have to take them into town to do that.

The return on investment in this area would be incalculable as there are so many great rural areas that would flourish with affordable fiber connectivity.
Hmm, how would they "flourish" and how would that be a return on investment - other than having people happier and having the ability to do some work from home?
Having decent broadband internet here wouldn't help the area flourish, there'd be no more money in the area to help the local economy. People would just be happier and able to do things they want to do or in our case, do things we are forced to do by law because Iowa says ALL SALES AND USE TAX RETURNS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE.
Oh, yeah, good luck with that. Jerks - force people to do it all online - but don't give a way to do it without taking so long it times out and you have to start over.

High speed internet introduces opportunities just like electricity and railroads. Some will take advantage of it others not so much.

Plenty of businesses only need internet connectivity. And lots lots of people would be happy ditching the nightmare of large city traffic for smaller towns if jobs existed there.

I and quite a number of others are injecting real money into our small town economy and its only possible because they have gig fiber. Gig fiber On DIRT ROADS! This was a seriously depressed local economy. We already see the changes with new stores opening here.

To yeah his own. Besides, who died and made you the JT sheriff?
This is the "unpopular opinion" thread. He has an opinion. Your reaction indicates that it is unpopular. Everything is working as designed.

Anyone who says they want a 2-door Gladiator has likely never sat in a Scrambler. 75% of people today wouldn’t even fit in one, much less be comfortable. 2D JT would have to be extended cab.
Jeep Gladiator What is an unpopular opinion you have in the Jeep community? 20220802_124201

This pickup truck is the perfect size for me. I have a GMC 2500HD, JKUR, & a GC Trailhawk and this little pickup is the one I find myself driving the most. It is the most practical vehicle for me at this point in my life. It's has proven very reliable and gets as good of gas mileage as my much newer but much heavier wrangler and GC. It is easily maneuvered along the tight twisty two tracks of northern Michigan's backwoods as well as in the big city of TC. I can fit my bike in the bed, fully assembled with the tailgate closed and I don't have to hang the front tire out of the bed and over the tailgate. I sleep in the bed with the topper on during my UP-camping trips.

Jeep is straying away from building small practical nimble offroad vehicles with their recent introduction of the Wagoneer and L versions of the Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer as it is easier to meet CAFE regulations by building larger vehicles. This is the sole reason why the 4 door Wrangler was invented as a well as the overly long 4 door Gladiator. It amazes me that some are easily convinced that a platform as long as the Gladiator is acceptable as a viable and practical vehicle for off road travel. Believe me, I have heavily considered it but thankfully witnessed friend's challenges and shortcomings their Gladiators bring along with them on the trails.

A 2-door gladiator would be the perfect little, nimble, and practical off-road vehicle to replace my 27-year-old ZR2.
