I try to be pragmatic in my approach. I like a practical jeep. It's a DD and I wheel it.

I did Line-X first and all weather mats.
Then 33s.
Then rocksliders
GMRS
Skids for lower control arms and shock mounts.
Rubicon Suspension
Steel Mopar Bumper...
LED Driving lights.
Side Arm Mount

Rims were cool, but not necessary.

Next is onboard air.
Eventually re gear for 35s and rear locker.
Winch.

I have in the past wondered about an air source - air mattresses, helping other folks out at car shows, airing up their shocks before a race, whatever- even for my own needs, I guess. But so far it's not been important enough to pay what a decent basic system costs. I'd use it maybe once a year, twice at most (I say that now, of course)

I would love to see an affordable alternative for locking rear seat storage. To not have to worry about recovery gear under the rear seat when going topless and doorless would be great!!! Mopar is asking WAY too much for what they have.

I have thought about this too. My reality is I will use the air more than a winch.
I hate driving around at 15 PSI looking for a gas station that has a working compressor.
I can expand it to a rear locker. Be convenient as hell and allow me to air down more often.

How many people drive around like they are going on safari in sub saharan Africa and never use any of it?

The reality is that most Jeep stuff is expensive and for the "In Case Shit Happens" category.
We have thousands of dollars in crap we hope we never have to use, but damn are you glad you have it when you need it.

I've already used my winch - to help my neighbor pull his generator off a trailer.
He used my 4 wheel drive lawn tractor to pull the generator into position but his yard was wet and even my 24 or whatever HP V-twin little tractor couldn't pull the trailer out from under the generator so he held my tractor in place while I winched the generator off. It was sort of a he pulled with my tractor while I pulled with the winch and it ended up almost perfectly centered and square on the pad. (the wireless remote made it nice)

But I have to say, on my list of "more expensive accessories (meaning more expensive than the nickel/dime stuff like mats, tailgate seals and so on) the air system is at the top. Just something reliable to get the job done, don't need super-fast or top of the line, just reliable.

Exactly. They are always rubbish. I am going with the ARB Twin. 4 35in tires in 5-6 min. And reliable as all get out.

I'm gonna go with running boards/nerf bars, if only because they cover that ugly weld seam!

  1. All weather floormats
  2. Tonneau Cover
  3. Side steps / sliders
All three of the these were required for me right after driving it off the lot. Mine came factory with side steps (Overland) otherwise I would have added those.

I was even willing to give the dealer accessory guy a shot, knowing full well he would try and screw me... Sure enough he “Required” a $150 install charge on the tonneau, and couldn’t price match otherwise “the tonneau wouldn’t be covered by the manufactures warranty if not professionally installed”. He also guaranteed me he wasn’t over priced on his weather tech floor mats, when the weather tech site MSRP was $50 lower with free shipping...
