If $4k was deposited into my account Id expect it to be removed as a bank error. Its happened before, someone with my name sold their home and deposited the check into my checking once. Was nice to open my account and see and extra $250k in there, lol

I'd tell the bank to re-check as the IRS likes mysteries.......... no way I'd ever spend money that just appeared out of the blue. Someone would take me to court to get it back - lose-lose.

Yes I called the credit Union and they immediately started checking. They called the teller that did the transaction and she was off by one number. The lady put the money in what she thought was her account to pay off her mortgage.
