With my 90XJ I've been in water about 4 ft deep and no problems with keeping it running, not good for wiring inside. Rear diff flooded and fuel tank got water in it. The difference and tank wouldn't have if I known guys had decided to run their mud buggies down the creek and rutted it out. Note, Ramsey 8k winches would run under water and been tested to. So lessons learned. Check the depth before you go even if you went through the place in the morning and coming back in afternoon. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
FYI the front axle vent line is only at top of wheel well on a 2020 Gladiator. I was looking at it yesterday taking skidplate off.

Bottom of the doors also. Water in the cabin scares me.

My last Tundra wasnt too much heavier than my JTM. I've seen posts on here with JTs weighing over 5000lbs, my Tundra scaled at just over 5300lbs in the double cab configuration. That was a 2020 model. Earlier Tundras, like pre 04, were quite a bit lighter.

65" is nuts, even with a 2.5" lift on the Tundra it was still only about 80" tall. 65" would put water at 3/4 the way up the windshield.
yeup. bought halfway up the windsheild. My Tundra weighed 6800lbs and my JTM weighs 4850lbs

My door states 5,124. Scales leaving the dump typically have me at 5,5-600lbs. But weight and bouancy are quite different things. The cabin volume and sealing are probably more material whether you float.

Whatever you do to mitigate it, water is still hard on many components. I guess my point is that I wouldn't fear crossings if unavoidable but I would do my utmost to avoid it if possible. You never know when a bad sensor could be the consequence of a water crossing months prior.

Hey everyone, I’m Kelvin!

I recently came across some incredible videos of Jeeps wading through deep water, and I couldn't help but imagine myself in those situations. Honestly, I don’t think I’d even have the courage to stay in the car! 😅

Watching those brave drivers tackle treacherous water made me think back to a time I faced a daunting mud pit. As I approached, my heart raced, and I hesitated—there was no way I’d want to be stuck in there! I can totally picture myself jumping out and wading through it like it was a swimming pool! 😂

So, what about you? What’s the deepest water you’ve ever tackled?

Below the front fenders and away from the air intake. That gives me about 40” if I need it, which I have for a few brief crossings. Otherwise, I try to stay below 3 feet.

Oh back in 1999 we were living year round on Martha’s Vineyard, at the time I had a 1995 YJ I bought new for under $13,000! As basic as possible with only fold and tumble rear seat, no power steering, radio, carpet, with half doors and zipper windows. The only mod was 265/75-15 Wrangler MT tires and KONI shocks. In the winter is the best time to explore out on the beaches and area out by the Cape Poge lighthouse on Chappaquiddick Island, where once you get over the infamous Dike Bridge, then tack a left drive a couple miles over very soft sand you come to tight dirt island roads that connect a dozen summer homes. Well after a pretty strong NorthEaster with tidal surge the road were all under 1-3’ of water. There was a low spot in one, where the water came up to the hood latches, I just added a little more throttle and came out the other side

From experience, there's no way that JT/JL was still running. Water reached the tops of my seats inside the cabin and shorted out the BCM, shutting my JL down. That much water will also be a write-off; all the airbags are compromised.

I went into a water hazard I've crossed five times, and rescued 3.5 other vehicles. I slid off into the deep while pulling that WK2 out. The WK2 represents the .5 rescue - I got him unstuck, but got done in myself.

WK2, but not the Grand Cherokee in the picture?
If that's the one, that is a Grand Cherokee, II, WJ99-04
I am asking, because we have had some WK2s go haywire because the pressure washed the underbody, went through a puddle, etc. and there were a bunch of codes

Whoops. You’re right, got the body code wrong. WJ not WK2, it sucked some water in and hydrolocked.

No worry. Was curious, as I was wondering if the WK2 had done some precautions or what, as they do seem do seem a bit prone low down to e-gremlins

Ohh no. That sucks, but happens quickly. I don't love mud or water... well I do, and try to be as prepared and walk everything, I just don't want to write off or spend a ton of money if I can avoid it. Our WH (EU-WK) likes throwing serv 4wd and abs/esp codes as soon as we get it over the centre of the hubs... our gladi so far has done great, and I still am paranoid and prep the vehicle as well as I can
