Hey everyone, I’m Kelvin!

I recently came across some incredible videos of Jeeps wading through deep water, and I couldn't help but imagine myself in those situations. Honestly, I don’t think I’d even have the courage to stay in the car! 😅

Watching those brave drivers tackle treacherous water made me think back to a time I faced a daunting mud pit. As I approached, my heart raced, and I hesitated—there was no way I’d want to be stuck in there! I can totally picture myself jumping out and wading through it like it was a swimming pool! 😂

So, what about you? What’s the deepest water you’ve ever tackled?

Haven't done anything deeper than 40" in my Jeep. But i use to regulary take my old Tundra to 65" plus. She was heavy enough to not float away to badly.

With my JT. Just over the front bumper on 37’s. The Power Wagon, 4" lift on 37’s with a snorkel. Crossing a creek. Down the bank, over the hood then up the other bank. After that, I had to change both the idler pulley, and belt tensioner. They don't like water.

Popular comment under this video: Don't forget to pull the drain plugs!

I'm sure this will work, and turn on the wipers.

Maybe a heavier car is better for getting traction in deep water?

Military Humvees are specifically designed to let water in as fast as possible to prevent floating, the sooner the wheels are on the river bottom the sooner you can maneuver.

From experience, there's no way that JT/JL was still running. Water reached the tops of my seats inside the cabin and shorted out the BCM, shutting my JL down. That much water will also be a write-off; all the airbags are compromised.

I went into a water hazard I've crossed five times, and rescued 3.5 other vehicles. I slid off into the deep while pulling that WK2 out. The WK2 represents the .5 rescue - I got him unstuck, but got done in myself.

I had a 1986 Ford Ranger Turbo Diesel 4 Cylinder
Drove it into a mudhole on a logging road that proved to be a bit deeper than anticipated.
I had one of those bug guards that stood up almost straight on the front of the hood, and a wave came over that and swamped the entire hood, up to the base of the windshield.

Turbos and water pumps are built eerily similar.
Bent rod and crushed bearings on #2.
Drove it 35 miles home like that.
We rebuilt it in my father in law's garage working nights after we got off work.
Had a few parts left over, but they must not have been too critical, because it ran another 100,000 miles before I sold it on Ebay to retiring garbage man from California.

He flew out to Raleigh, NC and we met him at the airport.
He then drove the truck to Tampa and put it on a boat to Belize, where he was going spend his retirement.

It may still be running around down there for all I know.

In the Gladiator: Not much deeper than the hubs.
In previous vehicles: Over the wiper blades with no snorkel. Land Cruisers are just built different.
Yeah, I've had over the hood, but with water not going much over an inch or two in the cabin.

My last Tundra wasnt too much heavier than my JTM. I've seen posts on here with JTs weighing over 5000lbs, my Tundra scaled at just over 5300lbs in the double cab configuration. That was a 2020 model. Earlier Tundras, like pre 04, were quite a bit lighter.

65" is nuts, even with a 2.5" lift on the Tundra it was still only about 80" tall. 65" would put water at 3/4 the way up the windshield.

I have only treated water up to the hubs . But Mud I have pushed with the from bumper . This would be a thickish slurried mud so deep it was up on the side of the block and above the frame onto the body underneath . Took 2.5 hours to wash it all away.
