OK it's out. Looks like a KARR PL884-200 tracker. Dealerships commonly install them anti-theft and possible for remote shutdown in default situations. Some also attempt to charge people for them as a security system upgrade, but Carmax didn't. Everythign seems to work fine with it out.

It was easy to unplug the device from the cable, but I'm hoping there's no need to go all the way into the guts of the dash to remove the wiring harness.
It's one of the tracking devices that they sell subscriptions for. They usually include a phone app and web access to keep track of the vehicle. Mine included something similar, that came with a three year paid subscription. I pay for SiriusXM Guardian, which includes similar features, so I didn't renew it. The device is only 3G, so a renewal would have also required an upgrade that I would have had to pay for.

Looks like mine! You say you just cut the wires? You didn't splice the factory wires back together?

I didn't cut the wires, I just pulled the connector from the device. Came right out.

Mine is hard wired on both ends, no connectors. Look identical with the exception of the mounting tabs on the side.

Crap like this reminds me of some of the photos in recent years of JTs that were burnt to a crisp.

Noob here, just bought my first Jeep - 2021 JTR. Bought it from Carmax, and they didn't have a complete/reliable list of included features/options. Whenever I turn the Jeep off, I see this green light fast-blinking (see attachment). After it's been off a while, the same green light blinks slower, maybe once every 1.5 seconds. I thought it must be a security system, but that section of the manual does not describe a green light. Anyone know what this is?

To be sure, now that you’ve removed it, I would wire the tracker to a Canada goose. The lizard people will think the tracker is still active and when they come for you, those suckers will instead come face to face with a deadly predator bird from hell.

That's something aftermarket.
If you want more information go to the site below and create an account for your Jeep.
After you do go to equipment and it'll give you all the factory installed items.

What is that cylindrical device connected to your brake pedal? Just curious.
