I remember flying out of Tampa right after that storm, you could see the road rivers and waves from the air. Got like 18 inches of rain in an hour or something crazy like that.Speaking of lightning - about 15 years ago I was living in DC and had come down to Tampa for a business trip. Went out to dinner with a coworker, and a huge thunderstorm hit while we were at the restaurant. Streets went from completely dry on the drive to dinner to waves cresting over the hood of the rental car on the way home. We stopped in a mostly water free parking lot to wait out the storm. Cars kept driving into this one intersection and promptly began floating. A couple of soldiers from the nearby base were standing there with me, so we waded out into the intersection to push the cars to safety.
I call IL home, but mostly in MO for now.
