We have a Volkswagen Golf, 2013, with the 150 hp 2.0 TDI engine. Up to now 150k miles with a real average of 41 mpg including german Autobahn. When driven really "eco" i reached 60 mpg.
Wouldn't that be in kilometers over there? So 60kpg? Or 60kpl? ;)

The Golf/Jetta TDI are fantastically efficient for motoring. Wish VW didn't f**k everything up. I'd like an Audi TDI.

The best complimentary car is my company car. Its free and allows my Gladiator to be a true weekend vehicle that I can mod to my hearts content as I don't have to drive it every day :)

I was almost afraid I'd get flamed for mentioning my Volvo initially ? - seems a lot of us have them! I think the whole Volvo line-up right now is fantastic, especially when you compare it to the other luxury brands for the price. As some have noted, they are on-par with non-luxury brands higher-tier trims, but the interiors are on part with any car I've ever personally driven or sat in. I have my XC90 as noted. My wife has an XC40 and loves it, and my parents have the XC60.
I was too. Figured my head would be on a pike. The price point was surprising for us with the plug-in xc60. We have a ‘22. It was roughly the same price as a wrangler 4xE, works in the cold, and is way more vehicle for the money. Way more.
The JT is my Fuel efficient vehicle. I only drive my HUMMER on Sundays now or any of my other vehicles or motorcycles till the new wears off.
Seriously this I have never understood. Gas prices go down and everybody buys big honking SUVs.
Gas prices go up people will keep the big SUV and buy a second fuel efficient vehicle due to the rise in cost of gas. Monthly payment and additional insurance coverage of fuel efficient vehicle is greater than or equal to the cost of fuel for the SUV they already owned.
Why would you say fuel efficient vehicles have higher insurance premiums?

I have a super basic highway eating sedan that I love. It was like $12k brand new and has nothing but auto and backup camera and it's fantastic. Had plenty of luxury sedans and I like this little thing a lot more, dont really care about luxury cars and suv, not interested.

Tried to buy one a couple of years ago. They wouldn't sell it. Ended up with a Jetta GLi when I really wanted a golf TDI.

I'm a single person household, but like having two vehicles. When I bought my 2020 Gladiator Sport S, I had a 2019 Ram Power Wagon. Wound up selling the Power Wagon for more than I paid for it in early 2021, but missed having a second vehicle. I thought long and hard about buying something fast like a 6.4 hemi Challenger Scat Pak, but ultimately realized I really enjoy Jeeps, and am unlikely to lose my license driving a Jeep. So I picked up a 2021 Unlimited Rubicon XR as my 2nd vehicle. Wound up costing more than the Power Wagon, so maybe I would have been ahead of the game to hold onto that truck, but I'm enjoying having two great Jeeps.

I'll be the first to add an Audi to the list, which checks a lot of your boxes and the interiors are superior I think to a lot of other cars, my opinion anyways.

My 2nd ride is a 2017 Audi S6 Stage 1 APR. It's twin turbo v8, pushing about 550hp.

Depending on the model there are a lot of options.

The air ride is fantastic and creates a smooth or aggressive ride if you so choose.

Depending on how you drive mileage can be an issue.

If you're not into power power, an A6 is also a great option.

If you want top notch interior, look at 2018 S4's or newer.

Fits in the bed, also good off road, 80 mpg.

Personally, I like what's behind it too! Please forgive my ignorance, but Camaro or Trans Am? I'm only good at telling when I can see the taillights or the full front. Edit: never mind, I see it says z28 on the grille.

I love my gladiator and don’t plan to to get rid of it anytime soon. However its not the most comfortable vehicle and drive a lot during the week which cost me over $5000 in fuel last year.

I’m starting to look for a good complimentary vehicle and curious if looking to bounce ideas off of the community.

In my opinion the gladiator is:
1. Fun
2. Convertible
3. Good enough towing/utility for me
4. Okay cabin space
5. Poor cost/ fuel economy

I think a good counterpart would be:
1. Comfortable
2. Cost/ fuel efficient
3. Quality interior and infotainment (kind of in-line with “Comfortable”)
4. Easily towable as a bonus. I have a trip every year or two I’d like to bring this along on.
Is your thumbnail driving through the anza borrego?

Thanks, yeah for sure. I apparently have a thing for vehicles that can be disassembled with a wrench set ha

As others have said try a VW TDI. My DD is a 13 Jetta and the wife has a 15 Passat, both are TDI. We have had several others in the past. Fun to drive and get 40+ on the mileage.
