Length, width (including tires & fenders), the JT is more of a full size truck than a mid size.
Not even close to the size of my Chevy. It's feet shorter, and at least 6" more narrow than my Chevy and that's at the widest part of the JT.
A sheet of plywood fit between the wheel wells of my Chevy, no 2x4s needed. My LS engine could also run circles around the JT pulling a load.
The chevy could accelerate going up the big inclines on I80 with a bed loaded down with heavy car parts (transmissions, starters, engine parts) and car hauler on behind. My JT won't touch that.

Not that I dislike the JT and the 3.6 - not at all, it's just simply not even in the same league as my Silverado was.

I’m happy with this engine and think it will continue the reliability legacy. I have over 100k miles on my JK Pentastar.

Like any red-blooded American male, I would likely have gone V8 had it been an option. The Pentastar is really plenty of engine for my needs.

I parked my JT next to a GMC Suburban same length (218 inches JT, 219 inches Suburban). 74 inches width JT vs 77 inches width 2500 Suburban. Anyone want to claim that a GMC 2500 Suburban is not a fullsize truck, & a big one at that? In practical terms, JT is a fullsize truck.

I currently own both as you can see in the picture.

But you're sort of comparing different eras. Here are the dimensions for a 2021 suburban:

Max Width (without mirrors): 81.10 inches
Length: 225.70 inches
Height: 75.70 inches

Here are the dimensions for a Full Size 2021 Ram 1500
229-242″ L x 82-88″ W x 77-81″ H

Here is the JT
218″ L x 74″ W x 75-76″ H

Vehicles are getting bigger as time goes on, but the JT is firmly mid-size by modern standards. The new ranger is as big as an F150 was a few years ago. Heck, a new civic is much bigger than an accord was not too long ago.

I measured my silverado. And I park my JT in the same place as I used to park my silverado. No comparison. I can now drive a JD lawn tractor down the middle of the garage between our vehicles and there's space on the right for my wife to walk - with groceries in hand - along the JT. She can open the door wide on the right. With the Chevy I had to pull out of the garage for her to get in. I also have feet of space in front of the JT - didn't have space in front of the Chevy.
Yeah, I've owned both and I measured both before I bought. That Suburban sure as heck isn't as big as my Silverado was - there was a lot more difference in width and length both. My garage proves that even with my tape measure put away.

Actual measurements - like I said, Chevy 6" wider and a foot longer. The Chevy had a 6.6" box - the JT only 5" so you lose 18" of box length. The chevy length is without a bumper - I believe the JT length is measured with bumper. So add a bit for the bumper of the Chevy and that makes it even more longer than the JT
The JT is taller - will give it that, helps explain the fuel economy.

Suburban may be on a truck chassis- but it's not the same as a full-sized truck dimensionally otherwise. I measured as I wanted to know if one of the advantages of the JT would be a smaller size truck physically - and it was, I found it to be a lot smaller, enough to add the JT size to the PRO column because it was so much smaller than a full-sized truck. I measured, truck to truck.

Chevy -
Wheelbase (in) 143.5
Length, Overall w/o rear bumper (in) 230.2
Width, Max w/o mirrors (in) 79.9
Height, Overall (in) 73.7

GVWR 7,000
9600 pound trailer max.
1788 pounds cargo
- - - - - -
Jeep JT
Wheelbase (in.): 137.3
Width, Max w/o mirrors (in.): 73.8
Height, Overall (in.): 76.1
Overall Length 218.0

My Chevy extended cab with a 6.5" box was LONGER and WIDER than my 95 F250 4x4 with a "standard" 8' box. My big Ford fit the garage more easily than my 1500 Silverado. That Chevy was a tank.

I've had my JT for about 6 months now, and I have to say I'm surprisingly happy with the Pentastar. I was on the fence about going diesel but couldn't justify it for many reasons. Cons outweighed the pros for me. The Pentastar starts easy in really cold weather. It's quiet. Does just fine towing my TT. Has more than enough power for what I use it for. I came from a V6 Tacoma and I like it better than that engine.
What generation Tacoma did you come from?

Love mine. It's been perfect. It is a boat load of fun with the manual transmission, too. My brother has a Gladiator rubicon and everytime I see him he praises that engine.

Length, width (including tires & fenders), the JT is more of a full size truck than a mid size. I'm 100% pleased that I can get 2mpg better on factory 32" tires with a 4500lbs (unloaded) truck than I could with either 2.4L, 2.5L, or 4.0L in a 3000 to 4000lbs jeep and 6mpg better than with a 7.4L 5500lbs 2500 truck, but still tow my 5000lbs trailer.
Full size pickups have been within an inch of 79" (most being 79.9") wide for the better part of 60 years. The JT is a lot closer in width to an old Ranger/Tacoma but with extra fenders that make its paper width similar to the modern Ranger/Tacoma. It's all visual tricks that come with design.

We perceive modern trucks as longer because on average, they are. They just aren't in any significant way when you compare similar configurations to what was available in the past. It's just way more common to see 4-door pickups than in the past.

A 2500 Suburban isn't a truck, it's an SUV and they've always had different sizes than their pickup counterparts. 2500 doesn't define a comparable size, it defines the platform underneath. Also your Gladiator is only 74" wide because the fenders.

I'm very happy with the pentastar. The power is fine for me and especially with the manual trans it is fun to drive. My only drivetrain complaint is the gearing. I feel like the Rubicon/mojaves should come with 4.56 and other models with 4.10s. Or the trans could have been geared a little lower.

Love it! Its perfect for me and my needs. I do not tow regularly, and never wheel. I use my JT to commute, house stuff, and to deal with snow and other crappy weather. Has enough power for me, and keeps the price down.
