well thank you for all the bad aluminum box contributors ... but this post was to hear from folks who still have the original ... plenty of posts for those who had issues and swapped out

Quick and easy fix when the part showed up .
I just printed the TSB and handed to the service manager ,ok I will order you a new one.
How many miles did you have on it when you took it in?

Sorry if buggy you not seeing my reply/question posted. About your mileage when you had them change it out.

Still have mine. Trying to limit my visits to the stealership. As of now, I don't see any reason to replace it.

Bought my truck used with 16k on it, has about 18.5 on it now and still has the aluminum version, I did take it in to check out wandering, they did a realignment and it’s good as it think it can be, no play in the steering wheel. I did just recently install the Falcon adjustable Stabilizer to help with Highway travel. Lifted on 35s.

So in other words, you don't really know. Don't fall for that "it's a jeep thing" bull crap.
But then on 35s, it's not going to be as good as stock size tires unless you compensated with different wheels.

86000 miles on my Rubicon and still on the original aluminum box. That is thousands of miles towing my 21' travel trailer, plenty of Moab trails and rock crawling, and backcountry Idaho trips. I did add the Synergy bracket early on, maybe that helps? Also, I am running stock size tires still.

That brace can't hurt, and there's a whale of a lot of stress on that steering linkage in the rocks, in ruts, in mud and so on. I've seen some indications of a bit of frame flex on some, so can't talk negative about that pitman bracket at all.
Stock tires will help - keep the geometry as engineered, and keep the load on steering as designed.
People like you have proven that while there WERE flaws in that steering gear, in fact, a fair number of them, but that doesn't mean ALL of them are bad.

I have a 2021 Willys (9/20 build date) and the steering is super loose. It drives me nuts and is getting to the point where I am considering trading it in. I researched the adjustment and planned to do it today. As soon as I saw my steering box I was shocked. Isn't this the old aluminium box? I didn't think there was any chance I had it on a 2021. Not the best pic, but as good as I could get without taking everything apart.

Black paint should be steel. Retorque everything in the front end, especially the tie rod and trackbar. Then if it's still super loose I'd think about doing the adjustment.

I have a 9/20 build as well and had the same steering where it just felt loose. I chased all manners of fixes until I ended up swapping the tie rod. When I went to take the old tie rod off it fell out with out any force indicating to me it was very loose. New tie rod in and torqued, drives great even at high speed.

Looks black to me. The aluminum one would be silver/gray.
And yes, a 2021 if built early could have aluminum housed steering gear. Depends on the build date of your truck, not the model year. It was a change part-way through the 2021 model year.

Look through the wheel opening, the side, there's a label with part number. You can't tell by the top other than the color - the cast steel is PAINTED black.

This is the aluminum housed gear -
