I’m surprised so many comments on this topic of people not using a phone mount. I know we are all different and are set in our ways/habits. I can’t find a mount to use in my car as good as the one I chose for the gladiator. I personally don’t like the area between the cup holder it’s sweaty from drinks and spills.

NOT a sales pitch I’m so happy with the BulletPoint grab bar mount, or any other brand. There just secure and I bought a cheap 12 inch usb-c cord from amazon that’s held up so far for months. I say months because I purchased the used gladiator diesel in January.

I was going to recommend the DeWalt cable as I get usually a year+ out of it in the car and at home but it's the USB-c one

I use this cable for all my shit. USB-C fast mofo charging (maybe that was fast turbo charging). For me it has worked on everything, android or apple, flashlight to blue tooth to gps, everything I got. It's a magnetic connection so you don't stress the port, it swivels 360 also. It's nice to have 1 cable type for everything. Can get expensive converting everything to it, but it's worked out great for me.

I was reliant on cords for CarPlay as well and tried out a wireless unit. One of the best things I did.

Only gripe I have with it is if I get too close to the Jeep when I'm on the phone it will grab the call even though the ignition is not on. Results in a strange high pitched sound to whoever I'm on the phone with until I jump in and start it. Other than that it's flawless

I changed my usb’s to turn off with the truck to avoid this type of thing. Maybe you could do the same?

The Apple branded cord is the only one of many that consistently and flawlessly function In my truck. I do not believe it is a physical issue but rather the internal chips in the plugs that make the difference. I went batty using new aftermarket cords that worked fine for charging but wouldn’t stay connected to CarPlay for anything. I’ve been using the same Apple USBC to lightning cord for 10 months and no errors at all.

My only bitch is some items you have to remove the rubber stopper to fit the adapter. My inReach rubber flap has to be opened up for the adapter. It's fine in the Gladiator but I do remove the adapter and use the rubber protector when fishing. I have a small Whitehouse baggie I put them in so I don't loose them. Over the years I might have lost a baggie here and there but I don't think they can pin it on me. My aftermarket iPad protector case hole had to be enlarged slightly. All in all, I really dig it.

the quick answer is no one.

I’ve been using one of the magnetic detachable deals for a while. Takes a lot of stress off the wire and connector over time. But not without some disadvantages. Like the magnet picks up any iron in the dirt if it hits the floor. But it also keeps pocket stuff out of my charging port.
Though it probably wicks In moisture a bit. Maybe rub a candle on the edge?If I grab the wire accidentally while shifting it pops off. But if I angle my holder too much, Esther than pressing the wire into the dash and vibrating, it comes loose and doesn’t stress the connector or wire.

Hey folks, the one rub I have with the factory setup is the need to be plugged in for carplay to function but even so, after a few months I need to replace my cords. I keep my port clean, OCD levels clean with an IPA dipped toothpick to pluck out any fuzz-balls etc. The latest was an overpriced dewalt cable. I got about 5 months out of it before it started disconnecting/re-connecting etc.

Anything robust out their that might last a year or more? My routine is plug my iPhone in, turn it upside down and set it in the card deck holder between the cup holders. Occasionally it sets on the passenger seat but thats pretty rare. Once plugged into the center storage port, it stays put until it fails. I'm not hard on the cords etc.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Card deck holder… Saw a video about that one. Found out it’s actually for your giant key! Even though it holds a phone upside down nicely.

I have had my Jeep for 2 years now and have used the apple cord since day 1. For the first year, no phone holder and alternated phone location - key holder, passenger seat, slot between parking break and console, and upper dash tray. Most often I kept it on upper dash tray. Downside there is it can overheat baking in the sun.

Now I have 67 Designs phone mount.

My family of 6 users has had Apple stuff for last 10 years. Our experience has been apple cords last way longer. Especially if like one other poster said you can avoid having bending stress near the end. (Charging upside down in the key holder, or cord hanging off edge of phone at 90 degrees.) Only thing I don’t like is I wish the usb c end of the apple cord was ā€œLā€ shaped so the flapper door could close a little more.
