Why is the new Mojave's tow rating higher?

I have a 2021 Gladiator Mojave (auto) which has a 6,000 GTW. The 2026 Gladiator Mojave (auto) has a 7,700 GTW. 1,700 pounds is a big increase. The 2026 model also has a 1,400 pound higher GCWR than my 2021 model. Does anyone know what the specific differences are in the vehicle to make that difference in rating?

Hmmm, I did some more digging and at two different places on the jeep.com website, the Mojave has two different GTW capacities. 6,000 pounds under model comparison and 7,700 under the specific model listing specs. Come on Jeep!

Thanks but you just restated what I posted. I am looking for information about what has changed between model years to create such a higher towing capacity rating.

That’s due to the Mojave Stickers being far heavier than the ShadowOps stickers.

A. If you aren't towing commercial or so grossly overloaded (think 10k lbs+) as to raise suspicion visibly, nobody is ever weighing your rig.
B. Even if they did, they aren't wading through Jeeps messed up site or doing a VIN specific look up. They look at the hitch rating and at most the gladiators maximum tow rating (7,700lbs for all model years). If you were under that you'd be sent on your way even in a manual rated at 4500-5k pounds. They don't care if you burn up your clutch. They all have the same frame. None of them will fold in half or fail towing 7700lbs.
Here's my lifted 2023 mojave on 37s towing 8200lbs... rated at 6k. No issues. Even pulling a grade that gains 4k feet in 20 miles. Maintained 65mph, never overheated, and that was 30k miles ago so no there wasn't some unseen long term damage either. The 6300lb water buffalo a few months ago was no problem either.

When the JT Shadow Ops edition was first released it listed a 7,750 lbs max tow rating. I asked the same question, what changed from the standard Rubicon to give it 750 lbs more. I was told it was a marketing typo. I tried to find the YouTube video that discussed tow ratings but no joy.

My 2025 Rubicon gladiator also has a tow rating if 7700 lbs. That's why I bought it.

Technically no it doesn't. Only the max tow sports are actually rated at 7700lbs. Being that Jeeps own site and dealers are confused more than half the time, and the door stickers don't give a towing capacity or GCWR, nobody would ever question it in the slightest. The reality of the laws and how they are enforced every JT is fine towing up to 7700lbs.
