This entire subject pisses me off, not the people here, but Stellantis. I have a boat that with the trailer, fuel and all the other stuff you put in a boat, comes to 5500-6000 lbs. I tow mine (about 8 mile roundtrip from the marina when I do maintenance at home) a few times a year but still wanted the "safety" that the Rubicon had with the 7000 rating. At the time, the Mojave had a 6000 lb. rating everywhere I looked (2024). If I had known that was not the case, I could have bought a similar Mojave at a dealer who has a lot of them on the lot for about $1500 less than my Rubicon.

We live, we learn.

Last year i ask the same thing because i saw similar numbers posted on Jeep website. They do have a small bump in payload and towing i believe its related to X models however its not near the max tow ratings. Most likely due the springs in rear and what it is design for (High speed bumps).. Its true we the fans and owners know much much more then the salesman/dealers and Jeep also always market max tow capabilities in every press release. Ive have been pointing this out for some time now. Trust me Its not a typo they damm sure know!

And they know despite the vague ratings, some of us will run any model like a max tow... with 0 issues. Even if you ended up on the scales, the DOT cop is just going to look at that same max tow rating. We are the only ones who care that Jeep markets the way they do and makes the real numbers hard to find.

Hopefully we are not overloaded or looking like we towing things beyond ratings to be stalked.. On a another note i think many buyers end up getting the wrong gladiators becuase of lack of research and/or just love the idea of buying the higher trims because of name then fail to understand the differences between the trims, etc. Many people would be wise to just buy a very base sport max tow (I did) or a sport s max tow to build up the way you want or just get the newer post 2024 willy's with all the new offroad chops it has now. The dealers, many youtuber reviewers don't help with this.

I primarily bought my JT for desert off roading, so the mojave was the obvious choice. ~5 months after I bought it we bought our off grid desert property. With that came everything from hauling our own water to towing our entire cabin out there. The max tow was never an option for me, as even the last 20 miles to the property are washboarded dirt, and this wash is the only way in. Even lifted the mojave makes a decent work truck, and having towed the 1st water buffalo with a base 4x4 F150 I'd argue it's a far better desert work truck than anything outside the raptor or trx/rho. They are all max tow if you need them to be in my experience.

Thats beautiful btw!! Awesome bless you and your family.. Yes i do agree they all can pull and haul the max tow capabilities, even the diesels. Some could used some more help then others. After market takes care of all of these issues for us and can make our rigs much more capable. As you know the Mojava has all the goodies like the 4:10 gears and wide track axels plus things like reinforced frame. steel knuckles, etc.

The stock springs were very soft compared to the metalcloak 3.5" springs, but even they did decent with heavier loads. Not sure how bad the sag would have been with the 8k pounds trailer if I still had the stock springs.

Funny I was just looking into metalcloak lifts, rock sport shocks, Are you happy with the springs? Been looking to get a full kit soon with some retro wheels. I never did a full lift on any of the 3 gladiators ive owned so i want to chang that. I want something that will allow me somewhat maintain towing and keep or enhance my load capabilities. I have a base sport maxtow with 1751lbs of payload and i love how my springs have been holding up my amor. As you know getting into lifts is a whole mission within itself lol smh. AEV dual sport and teraflex HD outback coils lift are on the radar. JKS and BDS as well but not sure how they hold up amor and heavy builds

As many keep mentioning here, the softer springs on the Mojave is the reason I avoided the Mojave and went with the Rubicon (supposedly 1,000 lb. more towing in '24) since as I mentioned earlier, I am close to 6,000 lb. when towing the boat. It made sense to me. I have no problem at all towing the boat with the Rubicon. But the extra $1,500 in my pocket would have been nice if I had purchased the Mojave.

There's been some discussion before on the subject. Short version is the website info is questionable at best, with little to no supporting data for the change in tow ratings.

Who had that commercial a few years back, “ If it fits, it ships”? 😁

Mine said 7000 when I got it. I have placed a lift on and I also have my own rule of thumb I always stay no heavier than 5000 that way I have plenty of wiggle room and the lift will detract from the tow capabilities of a truck. Most of the time.

This is (part) of why I dgaf... Not one... Not the remotest... Of what anything is "rated" for.

For one, there isn't a law in my state that requires me to follow them.

For another, they magically change them whenever it suites them. My dump truck is just a 3500 with an 8' dump bed put on it, and POOF, it can magically haul 5 tons now, when a 3500 pickup is rated for 2200 lbs.. .

And for another, my actual common sense and personal experience tell me that running at half that weight with my Mojave is a chore, even geared down to 4.88 on stock tires. They could rate it for 15k and I'd never put more than 5 on it regardless.

I think when designing these trucks the general idea was:

Welcome to Whose Jeep is it Anyway? The real life truck show where the numbers are made up and the tow ratings don't matter!
