I guess part of the fun is the build, but I like the idea of driving off the lot right onto a trail. I had to wait til I did some work to my JT as a stock Sport S
Unnecessary, all JT’s are Trail Rated from the factory. There’s a badge on the fender flexing about it.

Can Rubicon be had with Selec Trac? If so.... CVs on that option.
With the diesel option, no. With the 3.6, I'm not sure of. But I think it's no too.

Yes “Rock-Trac Full time 4wd” is what it’s called on the JT/R and it comes with CV.

Do you have the Rock-Trac Full-Time 4x4 system?
No. I tried to build a diesel Rubicon on line with the Rock Trac Full time system. Wouldn't let me do it. With the 3.6, it still shows it.

This was sarcasm, right?
I think it was kind of both. Jeeps are built to handle "trails" in stock form, and that's why they badge them as they do. But the definition of a trail varies wildly, so some people see the badges as marketing more than anything else.

Exactly. That’s why you have U joints and not CVs. If you had the rock trac full-time system, you would have CVs not u joints on your Rubicon. I understand you’re a diesel and that’s not an available option.

So when @CookieSoup asked if the Rock Tracs got CVs too I think you thought he was talking about the normal rock trac transfer case but because of the article he attached and asking if it was a 392 thing I understood he was talking about the Rock Trac full time system.

Ive had a Sport JLU, Willys JT, and now have a Willys Sport XR JLU.

The benefits to my JLU XR

Pros
2.0t has great torque with the 4.56 while getting me 18mpg on the highway. All stock on the 35s.

Cons
Ride is better in the JT
The Utility of the bed
Cheaper

The XR Willys is fun, but I don't wheel hard enough to really justify "Needing" the XR package. It looks great, but I liked my JT better. I also see people swap out a bunch of parts off of the XR for different aftermarket parts. They basically keep the 4.56, steel knuckles, and beefier dana 44s. If anyone has a Rubicon JT. Just get the wheels and get similar aftermarket parts. It's pretty cool, but not "the hype". The non XR Jeeps are still VERY capable offroad. If I could go back. I would have kept my Willys JT.

JT > JL

More form and function. If you're a home owner, having a truck is where its at. If you honestly think about the Pros and Cons in a realistic manner, the JT will prevail everytime. Can't pull 8' 2x4 in the JL

Throw 35s on a Mojave and you're pretty close (frame reinforcements, iron knuckles, higher factory lift). All you're missing is brakes and the spare tire reinforcement.
I'm pretty sure the brakes are the same as Gladiator brakes.

They can't be any larger in diameter or they wouldn't fit in 17 inch wheels.

My Gladiator Mojave with XR wheels/tires:

Before I had my Gladiator, my only way to haul things was with a high end lightweight utility trailer. It's all Galvanized and Aluminum with a 5x8 dimensions and a perfectly flat floor that was only about 16 inches off the ground.

It is superior to any truck when it comes to doing "trucky" things.

I used to have an old truck to use for that kind of stuff, but sold it about 10 years ago and got this trailer. I'll never look back. It's simply easier as long as driving a trailer doesn't cause you any stress.

I've got a topper for my Gladiator so some large hauling is out of the question anyway.
