My GF likes the wrangler more. But she’s grown to love the gladiator. Much smoother ride, we carry stuff easier when camping. She’s a big fan now.
take her off road a ton in a wrangler then do it on a gladiator, that’s when mine appreciates it. Rides so much smoother.

My wife sat with me at a car dealership 10 years ago and it was her only experience buying a new car. We walked out after 3 hours and fought to get our deposit back from the dealer for the next month Because they pulled a bait and switch at the end of the deal. Since then I have bought every vehicle we have owned Because she hated the process that much. Her only requirement for her vehicle is that it has 4 doors.

I think the gladiator is unappealing to many because of how a 31" tire looks on this massively long truck.
I guess it's all in the perspective - I wouldn't call the Gladiator a "massively long truck", but then my last truck was an F450 crew cab with a 9 foot bed! Wheelbase of around 225", and unloaded weight was just under 9,000 lbs. We used it to haul a 38 foot fifth wheel around - now THAT was a massive truck!

My story: Drove the wheels off a King Ranch F-350 Diesel with an 8 foot bed. Tons of Scout Campouts, I was Quartermaster and towed our very heavy trailer. Son is an Eagle Scout and now in College. Love my truck but live in a metro area and its a handful to manuever and park. Lurked on this site for almost a year. Wife wanted me to trade for an F-150, I wanted something different and kickass. Rented a base model JT with 31 inch street tires to see if I could handle the cab size reduction. Wife was still relatively unimpressed. Remained patient thru the virus crap and dealer friend called with news of a very low mileage Rubicon trade-in with a winch and 33" mud tires. High earner dude traded his new truck for a Raptor because his son bought one and he liked it. Drove 3 hours to the dealer with my F-350 feeling like I was taking a pet to the vet for the last time. I was still conflicted and 15 seconds into the test drive, my F-150 loving wife said, "Let's get it!". Overly long story but she and I both love it! I've always thought Jeeps and convertibles were cool but have always been a truck guy. This is all three and for lagniappe, you also get a Lifestyle!

MAYBE.... she's absolutely jealous that you will have one and she wont?

Just get "his and hers" problem solved!

Over 20 years ago, the wife wanted a new ride. I found a 92 Cherokee Laredo 4.0 at a good price, low miles. She still drives it and does not want any other brand. She is open to another, more modern style as long as it is not a Wrangler, 2 or 4 door. I will get her what she wants and as for me, the Gladiator is my next one. We both win, all the time. Bliss.

Mine ended up being really crazy. Cop had to supervise her when she was getting her stuff. I hope nobody has to go down that path.

Oh man OP, I feel ya. Same exact story, almost. I wanted a gladiator since the concept came out when I was in high school too. I've waited a long time. Like many of my vehicles, my wife hated the gladiator at first. But here I am :) Over a year of hint-dropping and the COVID crisis finally brought her around.

Now, after living with it for a while, having picnics in the bed, hauling stuff, wheeling, she loves this thing. I will say she hates the steering and felt it was downright dangerous, which I actually agreed with at the time. Turns out I didn't torque the track bar bolt when I installed my lift. (Whoops). Now she loves it again.

The only other vehicle I remember where this happened the same way was my Scion xB. I LOVED that little thing. I kind of still want another one as a DD. Mine got stolen and totaled. :(

Just remember a successful marriage is not about choosing the right person. It's about being the right person. 43 years and counting.

An exception is made for craziness.

But back to the topic. I think the best advice I have heard is from Jems007. The ride quality of the JT vs JL and practicallity of hauling things JT vs JL. Get it with a nice tonneau to sleek up the look, plus keep luggage dry and secure when traveling.

How long have you been married? She just wants her/family to be the priority, i dont know the full scoop of this matter but ive had the same situation before, make sure your obsession doesnt get in the way of whats important eventually it will all turn around. My wife was the one who actually pushed me to get the gladiator.
