Mission if you choose to accept, Talk a woman (that I'm hitched to so I have to listen to gripes about the purchase years from now) that hates Jeeps (They're too boxy blah blah) into a 4 runner instead. She's wanting to lease but wants payments around $400 AND she hates the $4000 down.

Trading in her 2016 Cherokee that's got 93K miles and has been a bit of a shit box....
Mission Impossible here....

Anyone got ideas? Anything out there thats comparable to the 4 runner/Wrangler? Maybe I should look at Broncos?
These will be fun parameters. I’ll be the first to get roasted…..
Tesla Model Y usually have parameters that will meet you around the $400 per month mark.

Cheapest Bronco package appears to be $519 for 4 years…

OH Lord help me! She's talking Subarus...... ?
I had a Subaru Impreza WRX for about 10 years. It was an absolutely wonderful little car. It couldn’t beat my 350Z in the quarter mile but once the turbo spooled up, that little boxer engine could outrun the Z.

Impreza may be a bit small by the sounds of it, but one of the SUVs like the Forester or Crosstrek could be fun. They make a Wilderness package that makes them respectably offroadable.

Ewwwww. Good luck figuring out the infotainment.
She had a Forester Limited once before but eventually sold it because the monthly payments were too high. Covid were some tight times and the used car market actually gave her a profit on it.

Then she bought the lemon 2016 cherokee. It's had roughly 3 grand in repairs in the last 2 years so it's been a bust. She'd have saved money just keeping the Forester..
I'm still pushing the Bronco and 4 Runner but she's set on including the Subarus. She liked the nanny systems they have. I'm trying to make lemonade of it and trying to steer her to the Wilderness editions...... The thing that's got me scratching my head is that she says the wrangler and Broncos look too "boxy" but somehow the 4 Runner and Foresters don't elicit that same response.

Look like the two best deals.

Let her cook, might come out alright. If not you still have a JT to fall back on.

I have my Gladiator, Ford F-250, Subaru Outback and a Corvette. We actually drive the Outback more than the others...

Doesn't matter what she gets, so long as it is her decision.
Jeeps are fun, Outbacks are practical.

I feel like I'm being sucked into a whirlpool of despair. I'd rather drive a minivan than the nanny-state, lane keeping assist, big sister, dystopian nightmare that the Subaru eye-sight and driver monitoring BS that Subaru is....
It would be fine if I didn't have to drive it.
